Read moreIt was a foggy afternoon when I rolled up to the kinda vista library/homeless encampment. The austere doorway, pavement and concrete were decorated and blocked by homeless dudes, stacking their treasures, and fashion collections welcomed the straggling denizens with were strewn against the front door with a color mix that the goodwill was sad to part with a decade ago what a caucophany! No it's a mariachi group of charmers perched confidently on the wall next to the window, allowing for free access to Spanish pick up lines from the 3 charming illegal aliens whistling at the toothless homeless gal shuffling past (to what I would guess was scurrying off to modeling class). You say u want live educational sessions? We got it kinda vista! There was a homeless engineer in the parking lot that developed an old camper into a party bus and dog shelter, with 5 pips sharing their successes from the day before. The host, draped in an Oprah Winfrey shawl and some rugged converse All-stars in his get away skids, was singing with a couple Mickey's ready to consume in each hand. We can only imagine how Hollywood hasn't discovered him and his homies yet. this is like having a Hemingway novel write itself in front of your eyes. Can't speak to the service, as there was none, but definitely gotta love the free ticket to our...

Watched a drunk man stumble onto an incoming car before relieving himself on a tree and aggressively shaking himself in front of me all before even having stepped out of my vehicle. I had my toddler with me so we left and opted to return another day.
There are shopping carts tucked away in various corners of the exterior of the library and an overall feeling of restlessness among the 20+ homeless people (many of them young) who live and wander around outside and then inside to use the outlets, water fountains and restrooms.
When inside the courtyard reading children’s books you can hear loud and obscene arguments breaking out just on the other side of the wall!
The city of San Diego should build a satisfactory shelter in this area so the library is not burdened with these crude and unlawful issues each day.
Undoubtedly, these harsh circumstances are minimizing the attendance of visitors to the library. A really great library that caters to children! An obvious example of how underserved the homeless population in SD truly are.
Speaking on behalf of all visitors to Linda Vista library, especially Moms, (and even some employees) this issue needs immediate...
