"The Linda Vista Plaza was one of the first planned shopping centers in the United States. Linda Vista was developed as a large government housing project for aircraft, defense, and shipyard workers during WW2 and was dedicated in 1942 by Eleanor Roosevelt : Demolition occurred in 1972." Since then there have been a number of other businesses that have made their niche in this shopping center. The SIEU THI THAUN PHA`T S.A. SUPERMARKET has established itself as one of the largest distributors of Vietnamese groceries within the local area and they also sell standard groceries. They have an awesome fresh meat butcher shop and a large very large selection of both fresh and frozen fish from the "South China Sea." They also have a good restaurant within their market. I think that it's really good! There is "a state of the art" Mc Donald's, a large Rite Aid and a number of other reputable small businesses - a number are Vietnamese - within this exclusive shopping center. I get my hair cut at the Linda Hair Salon for $10 . There is also a beautiful old style roller skating rink that is only open on various days of the week; it was probably built during the late 40's, 50's or perhaps the 1960's? I've heard that they've tried to tear it down but, so far It's still standing. There is a Dum Dum Donut Shop, the YUM CHA CAFE and PHO HOA HIED restaurant. The large Linda Vista Library is located at the very south end of the Linda Vista Plaza along with the Linda Vista Post Office on Comstock Street. The San Diego County Health Center is also located nearby along Linda Vista Road, as well as the Bank of America of off Tait Street- across the street from the shopping center. There are two service stations, several liquor stores, a JIB, KFC/ TACO BELL and a number of other businesses within this very ethnically diverse self- contained community. They usually have a very large "farmer's market bazaar" at the west end of the shopping center every Thursday however, I'm not entirely sure whether it's weather dependent. The area is served by both the #44 and the #120 San Diego MTS ; parking is free to patrons only. Anyhow, some of my pictures should tell a story. Didn't Rod Stewart sing a song about...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLinda Vista Plaza has a number of popular businesses: Rite Aid, McDonald's, and a number of excellent Vietnamese stores that include a very large grocery store, several restaurants, a fine jewelry shop, two hair salons, a 50's style roller skating rink, Dunkin Donuts, a Bank of America ATM and other stores. The Linda Vista Pubic Library is also on their grounds, a car wash: the Linda Vista US Post Office is also across the street. I've been using the Linda Hair Salon to get my hair cut for about 10 years. A regular men's haircut is only $10 and they also do...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat place for Oriental Market but more towards Vietnamese. Cheap vegetables and they also sell in bulk. My negative experiences are that not all team members speak English so you have to find a team member that does and they are not so friendly to another Asian person that is not Vietnamese but are friendly to American shoppers full of smiles. I've shopped here many times since it was the original Vhin Dhong so they can't say I don't know what I'm talking about. They need to change their attitudes. Welcome and help the whole community is...
