North Park Thursday Market is pretty good. Im a bit partial since it's my neighborhood market but it has everything you need, not everything you want.
You're guaranteed to find the best fruits and vegetables from the best farms in San Diego.
There are also all kinds of great artisan vendors selling arts, crafts, specialty foods, small bites, coffee and smoothies. The kettle corn guy blasts the street something fierce with the smell of fresh popcorn. It's pretty darn good too.
My only complaint is the food selection. Many vendors come to north park and don't last however the vegan vendors do.
I miss my BBQ guy.

The majority of the market is comprised of a variety of prepared foods and drinks (ex: Korean BBQ, artisan grilled cheese, Poke, Indian, Mediterranean...stuff like that).
