Memorial Day Weekend I decided to throw a Pizza Party at Tribute Pizza, North Park and take the crew to do a Restaurant Review. And all I can say is: I'm glad I did.
I usually drink wine, but this time around I ordered a Mezcal d'India. One drink. Great Pear Profile. It was truly a great drink. I would go back there for this drink. lol When you go, ask for Lisa. Normally, I let the chef pick my menu. This waitress knows her stuff and won't steer you wrong!
Actually there is nothing normal about this place (lucky for you)!
I will tell you what we ordered because everything we ordered was good. That's so unusual at a Pizza place, but so true. We booked a 4:30pm dinner, and although most people are eating hot dogs and hamburgers on Memorial Day Weekend, by the time we left, 2 hours later, this place was packed! With all the great food choices in North Park, I'm tellingyou, this is one of the top choices! Onto the food (can you imagine we are this much into the Review and we haven't even touched on the food yet)? lol
We ordered a bread with fresh burrata appetizer. Nice. Gigi says: "The star of the show for me was the burrata. It was absolutely divine and had amazing richness". Brussel Sprouts and a Kale Salad are the big winners here. Two things: I don't normally eat Brussel Sprouts because they always come burnt and that's carcinogenic (cancer causing). These were roasted and beautifully flavored deliciously. Beautifully flavored deliciously? You bet! Probably my favoriteBrussel Sprouts in all of San Diego. And usually, a Kale Salad is boring or just ok. His dish is called: "I Kale, I Saw, I Conquered.
Conquer he did! The dressing and texture of this dish was ah-mazing. A great compliment to the pizza.
We tried three different pizza pies: Listen to this..... The Kevin McCalister. Do you have to think about this? Kevin from Home Alone? A nice cheesy pie. Gigi says: I loved the Kevin McCallister, the extra sauce really made the pizza movie perfect... almost like how I would imagine the Ninja Turtles pizza but better. All the pizzas had a good structure to them and the crust was crispy yet fluffy".
We also got a classic Sbagliata Margherita and a Fennel Sausage Onion Pie. All three were equally good. They have a gazillion choices of pizza on the menu, one more creative than the next. I'm telling you! This is a very unusual pizza joint!
We ordered a chocolate bread pudding and a tiramisu for dessert. The bread pudding comes with vanilla ice cream is nice and crunchy and is very chocolatey. Everyone at the table really liked the Tiramisu. That was our 'winner'.
This is a place we will all be "definitely" back to. Everyone at the table was surprised that 2 hours had flown by, saying we were all in such good company. (But I think it was the food and the fact that we ate at a perfect pace).
Bob sums it up this way: The Brussels were good with the lardon, the pizzas were 'spot on' delicious, the tiramisu was light and heavenly.
We thank Chef Matt for being such a creative chef knocking out beautiful flavor profiles. And we highly recommend Lisa for a waitress!

Read moreA Disastrous Dining Experience: Unbearable Wait, Inconsistent Quality, and Exorbitant Prices at Tribute Pizzas
My recent visit to Tribute Pizzas was an absolute nightmare that left me deeply disappointed and dissatisfied. I feel compelled to share my experience to caution others and express my frustration with the establishment.
To begin with, the wait time was absolutely unacceptable. After enduring a one-and-a-half-hour wait, our pizzas finally arrived, only to find them doughy and undercooked. It was evident that our order had been rushed due to our complaints about the lengthy wait. We kindly requested the staff to cook them a bit longer, which resulted in a catastrophic outcome.
When the pizzas were returned, they were burnt beyond recognition. The crust was excessively hard, and the toppings were completely charred. It was disheartening to witness such a lack of attention to detail and expertise in preparing a basic dish like pizza.
Considering the ordeal we had already endured, we asked if they could remake the pizzas entirely. However, even after this request, the remade pizzas failed to meet our expectations. The quality was subpar, and the taste was far from enjoyable. By the time we’re received these new pizzas we had already been waiting over two hours.
Adding insult to injury, the price we paid for this abysmal experience was exorbitant. Spending $80 for two pizzas and an appetizer felt like an unjustifiable rip-off, considering the lengthy wait, inconsistent quality, and overall disappointment.
Furthermore, I was astonished to discover an employee service charge included in the bill. Considering the lackluster service we received, this additional charge was completely unwarranted and only further exemplified the disconnect between the service provided and the charges imposed.
In summary, I strongly advise against dining at Tribute Pizzas. The excessively long wait, inconsistent and poor quality of the pizzas, and the exorbitant prices make it impossible for me to recommend this establishment to anyone. I suggest exploring other options where quality, value for money, and customer satisfaction are given the attention they truly deserve.

Read moreWe celebrated a special occasion here and had an amazing experience. We didn’t make reservations but were fortunate enough to walk in, be greeted warmly and be told they had a table available immediately. Our main server tonight was Alex with some assists by Crystal. Both were super attentive and kind throughout the dinner.
Let me preface that we ordered way too much food. Granted neither of us had eaten today but we still overdid it on the ordering front. We started with the Brussels sprouts appetizer adding bacon and we also ordered the Garlic Cheese Focaccia. Brussels appetizer was quite large and tasted delicious. Personal note - I would probably order without the bacon next time. It would have been fine without it and I like my bacon a bit more on the crispy side. The focaccia was soft and tasty and was interesting with the olive oil taste.
We then ordered two pizzas, Dirty Dancin ordered Grandma’s Style and Lady Diavola ordered the original style. Dirty Dancin was the clear winner - and my preference in pizza style would also be Grandma’s Style for future visits. Nothing was wrong with Lady Diavola but it was pretty basic and much softer and thinner than the Grandma’s Style. Dirty Dancin (or Patrick Swayze as some apparently call it ) was delectable. I was not sure I was going to like the Harissa Ranch on top but this pizza is a flavor bomb that will make your taste buds sing. We ended up finishing that pizza and taking most of the Diavola home.
Drinks were tasty but pricey. Plenty of alcohol in mixed drink. Since we were celebrating a special occasion Alex brought over a complimentary dessert of soft serve ice cream with olive oil and sea salt over it. That was so incredibly kind and delicious. I would highly recommend requesting Alex or Crystal as your server if you have the opportunity. Both were...
