Accessibility: this park really is not accessible as it is all wood chips inside, no paved area for wheelchairs to move easier on. There are also only three small benches to sit on inside the dog park, and there is almost zero shade. In certain parts of the day there will be zero shade, period. It's very hot here for people and the dogs.
Experience: wood chips...that's the first thing to say. The entire dog park has woodchips with no grass or paved areas, so when the wind blows and when dogs are running around, playing, lots of dirt flies up in the air and gets the dogs dirty as well as getting in your eyes. Also the fences of this dog park are super short so big dogs could easily jump over them. I have a 14 pound, small dog, and people were bringing other small and big dogs in here. It wasn't too busy on a Saturday which was surprising but all of the other dogs were friendly and the owners were very responsible, picking up after their dogs. I think it is great there is a fenced in dog area at all over here, but I wish they would do a few upgrades on accessibility as well as adding grass and more...
Read moreIt’s convenient because it’s in my neighborhood, but I have several issues with it. Full disclosure, my experience comes from previously regularly going to Dusty Rhodes dog park in OB. I also have a 9 lbs and 14 lbs dog, so I stick to the small dog section.
There is very little grass, it’s mostly chunky wood chips, and there is one bench to sit on. There are no trees, and the only shade comes from a pergola that is essentially pointless because nothing is growing on it to provide shade.
One benefit is that the park is divided into two sections, one for over 30 lbs and one for under 30. However, unlike at Dusty Rhodes, there’s rarely more than one or two other dogs there (if any), and then someone brings their big dog over to the small dog section with no regard for how my dogs may react. (“But my dog’s fine with small dogs...”)
The park is good in the sense that I don’t have another area in the neighborhood that I can legally let my dogs off the leash to get some energy out and socialize with other dogs. I get the sense that my dogs don’t enjoy it nearly as much as going to Dusty...
Read moreNice size park with great walking trails, has both little and big dog sections that are fenced in which is a plus ! , water provided but it's dirty so I bring my own water for my pup to drink. not very much toys to play with I would suggest to bring your own of that as well. This parks biggest downfall is the idea that I can't seem to understand why or who came up with it but the MULCH!. Absolutely NO!, my dog won't even run around I can't tell by the look on his face whether he's trying to figure out why they would do this or if he's in pain from walking on it. Dogs need grass to run on, mulch for humans hurt to walk on so I can't imagine the animals. Please try and incorporate grass for the dogs and get rid of the mulch I can assure you your ratings will go up. Other then that the...
