The Haven Pizzeria in Kensington continues to impress with its cozy ambiance, friendly staff, and comforting Italian-inspired dishes. This was our second visit, and it’s clear why this spot is a local favorite. From the moment we walked in, the welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a great dining experience. The staff provided excellent service, always checking in with a smile and ensuring we had everything we needed.
We started with the Mushroom Soup, and it was absolutely delicious. Creamy, rich, and full of earthy flavors, it was the perfect way to kick off the meal. As a soup lover, I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting. It’s clear that The Haven takes care in crafting each dish, and this soup was no exception.
For our main courses, we tried the Popeye Pizza and the Traditional Lasagna Pasta. The pizza, featuring roasted garlic sauce, fresh spinach, chicken, mushrooms, mozzarella, and goat cheese, had potential but fell a little flat in the flavor department. While the ingredients were fresh and well-prepared, it just didn’t pack the punch we were hoping for. That said, the crust was excellent, and I’d be eager to try a different pizza on our next visit.
The Traditional Lasagna Pasta, on the other hand, was an absolute standout. Layers of marinara, ricotta, mozzarella, mushrooms, onions, and ground beef came together in perfect harmony for a hearty and flavorful dish. Adding garlic bread was the icing on the cake, and I’d easily order this dish again. It’s comforting, classic, and exactly what you’d want from a lasagna.
Overall, The Haven Pizzeria is a delightful spot for anyone craving great service and hearty meals. While the pizza didn’t quite hit the mark for us this time, the lasagna and soup more than made up for it. With its welcoming vibe and diverse menu, we’ll definitely be back to explore more of their offerings. If you’re in the Kensington area, this is a spot worth...
Read moreI went here for a friend to grab lunch and we loved it! The restaurant itself is very clean and everything is very bright. Their color scheme is beautiful and the staff was very friendly.
We started off with the shrimp skewers which were delish! They're grilled shrimp with cherry tomatoes, walnut pesto and a balsamic reduction aka heaven on a stick. The haven twists also sounded good, but we opted for the shrimp because we were getting pizza too.
For pizza we got whole wheat crust 4 cheese because you can really judge a pizza restaurant for their cheese, right? Well, we loved it! It was the perfect amount of cheesy and very flavorful. We also got the "Popeye" pizza on cauliflower crust and we subbed red sauce. It was AMAZING, my friend and I both agreed that we'd go back just for that one.
We'll both be back very soon! There's also a small parking lot to the right of the restaurant, which is...
Read moreThe staff is great, friendly, and helpful. I really want to love this place since it's so close to us, but the food relative to the prices is underwhelming. I ordered a large Castro pizza if memory serves me well. The pizza crust seemed more like the frozen pizza you get at the store and it came with a giant pile of arugula on top. I love arugula but it was just kind of too much and was not seasoned in any way or even complementary to the pizza itself. I also don't mind mediocre pizza, but it was too expensive for the quality. I ordered some pasta for the kids and the Alfredo sauce was very lemony and the butter noodles tasted like nothing. I hardly ever leave less than 5 star reviews, but I really want this place to be better. You've got a great staff, just please either lower the prices or improve the quality of the food....
