This is the sixth time we have stayed on the Zolna Yacht houseboat. It's located in Cortez Marina on Harbor Island just south of the airport. We usually bring our kayak and bikes. You are close to Point Loma and the Gaslamp. Kayak out of the marina right at your doorstep. Make sure to visit the USN dolphin training facility on the west end of the entrance to San Diego Bay. We often bike down to the Coronado ferry and cross over to the island where you can bike down the Strand to Imperial Beach on a protected bike path. The Gaslamp and Downtown are very close. Just a perfect spot to do everything in San Diego.
The houseboat is great with a comfy bed, good kitchen, BBQ, TV and wifi. You have access to the marina facilities along with access to the Sheraton next door. Word of warning, it's a boat. You can't flush anything that isn't human down the toilets. Takes a little bit to get used to but a small price to pay for a great place to stay. It has become my go-to place to stay when I come down for business too. Much better than a hotel. You can park at Seaport Village during the day. Buy something there and park of your parking is free. Really awesome when I had a meeting based at the Hyatt. Our last stay was over the 4th. You get an amazing and very convenient view of the Big Bay Boom.
I can't say more about how much we enjoy staying here. Gets my highest rating. If the houseboat is occupied, try out one of their yachts. We did that one year over spring break with our son. ...
Read moreMy husband and I had our intimate wedding on the Nerissa on St. Patrick’s day 2018 and it was absolute perfection. We live in Brooklyn, NY and Shari made the process stress free for us, even while living far away. We never visited in person or saw the boat live until 1 day prior to the wedding and it was everything she said it would be and more.
Our families were impressed by the experience and commented that it was an unforgettable wedding because it was so different. We wanted high class and Shari delivered just that. Our pictures and videos are breath-taking, the service was superb, the catering Shari recommended was flawless with their execution and we all had an absolute blast celebrating our vows at sea.
Following the 3 hour cruise filled with cocktails, appetizers, hors d’oeuvres, ceremony and dancing, we headed to the Grand Del Mar for dinner at the Addison. A limo picked us up right from the docks for easy transportation.
My father was able to walk me down the dock to meet my husband so he was still able to “give me away” which served as a special and important moment for him.
There isn’t a single thing that I would change about our special day and our decision to tie the knot aboard a Zolna yacht. I’m STILL impressed by Shari and the team and how every tiny detail was handled. She was so comforting, accommodating and responsive.
We can’t wait to return to San Diego and rent the Nerissa again to celebrate an anniversary.
Lots and lots of love for the...
Read moreWe just returned yesterday morning from our 2 night stay on the Manu Aloha and are already missing the warm weather and relaxing yacht! It was a perfect stay for the 6 of us from 4 different states! We were in with the 4 of us family members and 2 friends for my sister's Bachelorette, so it was the perfect place for us to relax, hang out at the pool, and kayak right there in the bay (with SD Adventures!). We were even able to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner right there on the boat using the stove, microwave, and sink for clean-up!
It was beyond perfect out on the water. Our other 2 friends stayed literally steps away at the hotel- for anyone visiting, the airport is literally minutes away (so nice after 7 hours of travel) and the Sheraton AND Hilton are right next to the yachts! (This was extremely convenient because the boat slept 6, so we were right next to the additional 2 girls who decided to come last minute and we were able to meet with them for meals out in the gas lamp district, go kayak with them, and hang out at their pool, too!) All-in-all my favorite place to stay in the all the 8 states I've gotten to use non-traditional AirBnB style lodging in! Thanks so much for everything, Amos! I definitely think this is an amazing place for a small family or couple to stay at and will be recommending the stay for my...
