It’s been said; A Great Day at a women's convention, always starts with a Great Breakfast! (I’ve always found this to be true!) I spent a day at a convention at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. A couple of friends and I, started our morning with breakfast at Rumorosa's. The view was as breathtaking as I am under dive bar lights! (I no longer frequent bars, but when I did, I actually look like a Goddess, in dim lights. That's how I snagged my favorite current and hopefully last husband’s (Ray), attention. That’s a fun juicy love story for another time!) Menu described their breakfasts so well, it made my mouth water! I ordered the Horchata Overnight Oats (I’m gonna try and copy this recipe!) and was extremely happy! My tastebuds were doing the cha-cha! One of my friends ordered the Churro Pancakes. She said they were delicious (I can’t confirm, I didn’t get a chance to try them)...until she ran out of syrup, only a small amount of syrup came with the breakfast. She kept trying to get any servers attention for more syrup. She asked one of the table runners for syrup, he never returned with it. Finally our server came back to our table to check on us, pancakes were cold by then. She asked, if she could just warm them up in the microwave and if we could have more syrup. She came back to table and told us; her manager said "no, we can't warm them for you, but we are taking them off your bill." While that was really great customer service, taking not only the pancakes off the bill, but her entire breakfast! She really only wanted them heated (actually I did, because I was dying for a bite). It was very busy, so the manager and staff deserve some grace. (They were busier than cats at a laser show! ) The presentation of food was not deceiving it was exactly as described! (Unlike the deceiving men, that I've met in my past) I can't wait to try another meal at Rumorosa's!

Ok first off CHEF!! WTH!! You guys call a camera crew out and show what you’re serving for Valentine’s Day!!! Complete bait and switch. Just look at the news version of bread and butter compared to what we got!! It was a roll and not even a slice of bread. The beet tostada was good and steak was alright but looked like it’s been sitting under a heat lamp for 5 hours. After we sat there was a three other groups that came 15 min after us. Not only did they get their drinks first but they also got their food first. Secondly I got my drink and my gf sent back hers. And after my gf telling 3 different ppl about our drinks then her drink finally comes 30 minutes later and full of syrup. She got the same drink as mine and it tasted completley different than mine. Probably one of the worst restaurant experiences that I had. Waiter was nice but kept forgetting us and would say. “ you still haven’t got your drink? I’ll be right back” said that three times until we got the drink. We literally want our money back. The table next to us left and then the ppl that sat after them left as well. The restaurant dropped the ball on a day that was supposed to be important for a lot of ppl. Should have left regular menu open. Took two hours to get three courses. Almost fell asleep twice. Horrible horrible. Management we really would like a refund. What are you going to do?

When you are a guest of the hotel and a paying customer. Of course, you want that great experience and good service. Nothing worse having someone early in the morning so unfriendly as they seated you for breakfast. Female hostess was not about to give us that for sure. Not a hello or a smile, nope nothing. Our male waiter wasn't that friendly either as he took our order. Anyway, as I proceeded to the breakfast buffet, I asked the waiter, why the plates are soaking wet? He said "oh, it's freshly washed." Are you serious? The hotel is owned by Marriot I'm pretty sure they can afford machines that can properly wash dishes. Disgusting 🫣 As I'm getting my food, i noticed there were flies on top of the bread. I can only imagine those flies were having a fiesta on top of the tray of smoked salmon before hand. That just lost my appetite. The fruits and tomatoes looks like it's been prepped yesterday. Does not look fresh, and the coffee was not hot at all. Ugh The view and location is beautiful but, the food and service is lousy. First time always gives you that lasting impression.

To cut to the chase, the service sucks! Two weeks ago I brought a friend for dinner and drinks. We were promptly sat at a small table next to the windows overlooking the marina, and just as promptly forgotten about. It took about 15 minutes to finally be greeted by our waiter who took our drink order. Everything was very slow. He brought out drinks and then asked about appetizers. We ordered 3 to share. Got them, then he didn’t come back. Our drinks were empty, our appetizers almost gone and we hadn’t yet ordered the entree we wanted. By the end we just wanted to leave but had to wait for the bill as well. Aside from the service, the food we had was excellent as were the drinks and the restaurant is beautiful so I thought maybe it was an off night and would try again.

This weekend we put two friends up in the hotel for the night. We met them for breakfast Saturday morning at Rumorosa. They told us they tried to have dinner there the night before but that after they were seated, nobody ever acknowledged them. They left and went to Brewery X.

Which brings us to breakfast. It was busy so I had high hopes but again service was lacking. It took a long time for everything. When our waiter finally did approach, he had coffee on hand and served those at the table who wanted coffee. Two of us wanted alcohol and expressed that and he chuckled but then walked away. It was another 10 minutes until he came back to take our food order and I had to remind him about the rest of the tables’ drinks first. I ordered a mimosa and when it came there was bright red lips still imprinted in lipstick on the rim of the glass. Got a new glass. The entire time we didn’t feel attended to, never asked how our meals were and were not offered drink refills.

We are pulling for this restaurant to be great as the food really is good and it’s atmosphere is a breath of fresh air! It’s very close to our boat to walk over and entertain guests, but if the service doesn’t improve soon we’ll just continue going to Ketch and C Level where we’ve always had great...
