20250405 First time back to check out the opened renovations. Love the new China Beach placement of the monument, signage and historic notes. Seriously proud of the new and sturdier blockades that were put up. Gone are the rotting wood and major fear of erosion mud slides. There was some water puddles near the picnic area…where new park tables and benches and bbq section could use some upgrades. However the updated Parking area is also very nice. Would love the benches put back on the paved driveway/walkway. Scored a gorgeous day that even some brave people were in the water! Definitely not locals. lol Bravo to the SF Park & Rec teams! 👍

China Beach is one of San Francisco’s most serene coastal escapes, tucked away between the cliffs of Sea Cliff and Lands End. Known for its quiet atmosphere and sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the beach offers a perfect balance of natural beauty and city proximity. The sheltered cove provides calm waters, making it a peaceful spot for sunbathing, picnicking, or simply reflecting while listening to the gentle waves. With its dramatic backdrop of rocky cliffs and the iconic bridge in view, China Beach feels like a hidden gem—an intimate retreat within the heart of the city.

China Beach is really nice secluded beach that not many people come to. There was a lot of construction going on so beware of that. Parking is limited but free so come early if you want to park near. There are porta potties at the top of the hill for the construction workers but other than that there are no bathrooms near this beach. Steep stair case to climb to get down to the beach so be careful going up and down it, fun fact if you go up it three times it's the equivalent of a redwood tree according to my fitbit. No life guard so be careful around the rip current.
