If you're looking for an excellent spot to take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge then this is it!
My biggest complaint will always be dogs on the beach. They have to use the restroom, and it's not their fault they go in the sand and at the waters edge but there are children playing in the sand and at the waters edge. To me the 2 don't mix. Everyone is not a dog lover, the dogs are roaming free walking up wanting to sniff or running at high speeds playing with each other, almost knocking children & adults down who happen to end up in their paths. The expectation that everyone will love your fur baby is false, keep them close to you or leave them home. That's my opinion, in this world people value animals more than other people.
There is a significant amount of debris in the sand, drift wood, what looks like coal, and little bits of wood that are sharp. Be careful. The sand also gets extremely hot on the way from the lot to the water.

Read moreThere is a lovely and expansive view of the ocean, mile rock, seacliff, Marin headlands and part of the Golden Gate bridge just from the accessible parking lot. And of course you can walk down to the beach itself. There are picnic tables nearby and restrooms. It's a wonderful place to watch ships entering and leaving San Francisco bay. Many people come to the beach itself to watch the sunset. Parking can be difficult on warm days, holidays, and weekends as this is understandably a popular place. The trail is accessible from the parking lot of course and views from the trail are...
Read moreI'm a photographer and Baker Beach is hard to beat for incredible views of the Golden Gate Bridge and beautiful sunset light. But it's also quite crowded on weekends and can get a bit trashed. This side of the beach, in particular, feels a little more urban with houses nearby, a big drainage pipe, and graffiti. I do still use this side of the beach for photo sessions, but typically on weekdays and when it is foggy. I love the nearby paths through the forest and the sandstone bluffs...
