Hilltop Park (Sundial park) — Attraction in San Francisco

My wife's family, including young children (as well as older adults using walking aids) gathered at Hilltop Park on Saturday, Oct. 13 for a memorial honoring an uncle who passed away days ago. The park was generally clean with ample space for the event and the approximately forty guests in attendance. However, we did NOT have use of the toilets. After closer in- spection, we were able to phone the number listed on the placard high above the locked entry. At around 1 p.m., we were assured the doors would be opened soon. That never happened. We made the best of a bad situation, but our outing would have been much more enjoyable without the hassle of transporting people back down the hill in our van just to use the restroom. Nice park. The play area is intended for older children. A lot of metal/rope structures for climbing. My two year old wouldn't find very many ways to have fun here, but my four year old would have been all for it. I just moved to the area and don't really understand how the concrete slides work, but they have a couple coming down the hill and they look fun! Great seating area around the sundial. I don't skate, so I don't know if they skate park is good, but it's there. The people skating looked like they were having fun. A beautiful park that's deceptively large because it sits on several levels which actually help enhance the spectacular views of the bay and San Francisco hillsides. The center of the park has a large grassy field with a paved path around the circumference and some helpful workout equipment. there are picnic tables, bbq grills and a fire pit. To the east side is a skatepark and small clean bathrooms. To the West is the play structure with several long cement slides.
