Kite Hill is named after the hawk, not the Kite flown. It’s not the best for kite flying because of the hill’s conflux wind.

Has a great view of downtown SF and Castro’s Rainbow Flag looking right down Market Street. Apparently in the 1860’s Market Street at Stanton Street was named Eagle Street and Stanton Street went around the hill and was what is now Corwin Street. See brick manhole at the chert rock north side.

In the past, people would dump trash here, even one car. Gardening uncovers many artifacts. Watch out for glass shards.

The spring/summer Raphanus Sativus means fast apearing sowed (an edible garden radish gone wild) has blue fading to white flowers and was a stunning waist high blanket two years ago. Other flowers are pink ladies, iris, California poppy, Himalayan blackberry, Bermuda Buttercup oxalis, fennel. The SF Management Plan 6.13 also lists mallow and plantain. Used to see Miner’s Lettuce. I see that Kite Hill is full of edible plants.

My husband and I also saw from Kite Hill a fireball just as our disappointed eyes looked upward one more time to chance see a falling star. The large fireball had a glittering...

Small little park squeezed in between portola street and the houses in upper castro borderline Noe Valley. Its basically above the castro and below twin peaks on the route that leads to haight Ashbury. Views Views Views its what kite hill has got. As I stated its very small just a hill maybe acre and a half overlooking the castro and market street with downtown and the bay in the background. It has one or two trails and a few this is the life benches that were seemingly placed perfectly for viewing purposes. Dogs are aloud i think they are supposed to be leashed but if well behaved its not a problem. Parking consists of a cul-de-sac with 4-5 spots where the end is (also park entrance) as well as street parking along the back of the park down a hill and on the street that runs along its edge. There is a small path that runs from the edge of the street up the hill when you come up over the top you see the view A+. Its also a great place to fly a kite very windy hill top 1 tree no in air hazards to contend with. Seems to be high on the list for people smoking Js and Blunts if your gonna partake id roll before hand as it...

I went for a Scoot ride last night with no clear destination. I wanted to do some long exposure photography, but within the past week I had already been to the top of Potrero, Bernal, Diamond (billy goat hill), and the 22nd st Jungle Stairs in Noe... I kind of felt like I was running out of options.

So I end up winding through Twin Peak’s neighborhood streets until, suddenly, I was nearing a dead end. As I approached, I heard a voice singing,

“you woul-not be-lieve your eyes__ if ten mill-ion fire-flies__ lit-up the-world as-I fell_as-leep..”

The way Kite Hill sits between Twin Peaks (& the houses surrounding it) makes you feel like you’re inside of a Macro or Tilt-Shift camera lens, or rather inside of a trippy snow globe.

I’ll definitely be going back in the...

San Francisco has a number of small, but really interesting and fun to check out parks. Kite Hill, as the name suggests, is a somewhat windy outcropping, with a fairly steep slope, and winding trails throughout. Don’t expect to be able to play a game of football, or frisbee though, as either the wind or the incline (or both) will complicate your game. Really good for dogs and viewing the fast-moving cloud layer as it moves around the hilly terrain. Not a bad place for photography, and quite compatible with small drones, and of course, kites.

Nestled in the middle of the neighborhood, Kite Hill offers a great view up Market Street into downtown. We came up on July 4th to see if we could catch some fireworks, and found that we could see some from Golden Gate Park, Pier 39, and various individual homes throughout the city. But I think this would be a nice place to have a picnic just about any night. It's quiet, high up, secluded, and overlooks the city lights.

Kite Hill is a real hidden gem and one of the best hillside parks in SF. It’s a great place for dog walking, trail climbing and taking in great views of the city and surrounding hills. The park is well worth visiting anytime but especially in winter and spring, where the rains bring brilliant green grass and a profusion of wildflowers including California poppies.
