Been coming here since I was little and hoping to take my son since he's old enough now as we live within walking distance. That being said DON'T count on parking on Seward unless you're experienced/decent/confident at parallel parking especially in possibly tight, small spaces. Seward is a SMALL street with ONE WAY TRAFFIC! And lots of houses and garages so not a whole lot of spaces for public parking. So be kind and try and save those spots for locals who live on Seward, if you can! DO NOT EVER BLOCK ANYONES DRIVEWAY! But that should be obvious? Try parking on Douglas (at beginning of Seward) or 19th (at end of Seward). If you arent good at/can't parallel park...believe it or not there is PERPENDICULAR PARKING on the street above (Corwin)! There is a large walkway on the left/East side of the park which you can use to get from the bottom of sandbox/end of slides to the top of slides or past the top of slides to the community garden. The walkway (95% sure its also WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE!)goes literally from the street/Seward to the top entrance which is on Corwin. The small community garden is at the top of this park as well, which is near the entrance on Corwin. Anywho I would suggest parking up there as you can easily access not only the mini park but there is also an entrance/trail to Kite Hill at the end of Corwin! The trail leads around kite hill to the very top entrance on Grand View Terrace. Where you could technically park too if it's super tough to find any parking for whatever reason. But youd have to technically go thru kite hill which I wouldnt suggest if you have strollers, toddlers ect. As its very rocky and has a slight slope from GVT. You can reach Grand View Terrace from 19th or 20th turn right at Eureka then right @ 21st..go approx 2.5-ish Blocks up and once you past Worth (on the left) you will hit the wall then take a right and youll be on Grand View and Grand View Terrace is not too far. Go past the stop sign and then the street slightly curves to the left and itll be the next street on your right. Its about a block-ish before you hit Upper Market. If you hit Upper market..you've gone too far but can reach the bottom of kite hill by turning right onto Market then about 500ft youll see Short st on the left. Turn onto it and keep going till it veres to the left onto Yukon st. And youll see kite hill on your right. But its a slightly steep incline up the hill! Both Corwin and GVT are dead end streets and Seward is one way that leads to 19th which is a 2 way street (it might seem like it's not but you can def turn left or right off of Seward). Anyways Corwin is kinda hard to find and unless you Google map it and get directions to it or look at a map first you might get lost or confused. Go right on Eureka from 19th or 20th then to 21st and turn right then a block up to the corner of 21st and Douglas (Neighbors Corner store is an easy to spot landmark). It's a bit confusing for some because the left and right sides of the street are technically 2 different streets that are separted..take the LOWER street (one closest to neighbors corner) slash is technically where Douglas turns into Corwin. Go down that street and after you turn towards the left you should see lots of perpendicular parked cars and should be able to easily spot the top entrance to the mini park...if you keep going to the end you will see the small trail that leads out to Kite HiIl. I know this is super detailed but hopefully this makes at least someone's trip a bit easier š And helps people understand the area and make it less of a nuisance to neighbors cos I know it is! But offered such detailed directions to help offer people lote places to park & see Kite Hill...

Its a reasonable walk from Dolores. hint: walk along 18th and then head south - if you walk along 20th you'll walk over 2 MASSIVE hills that, unless you need to build up some calf muscles, are totally unnecessary.
Its not too difficult to find the slides. They really are fun! Bring your sense of adventure, rummage through the nearby recycling bins for a few pieces of cardboard to slide down on (please put them back), and giggle like you did in kindergarten!
A sign there says "No Adults Unless Accompanied by a Child". This seems cute and quirky and we had a good laugh when we saw it.
However....

The nearby residents are nasty as can be. We had slid down twice, yelping and giggling with glee when one of the women arrived and started screaming like a banshee at us. She told us it was meant for children only and NOT for adults and that we were being inconsiderate and horrible people for enjoying this public space. We apologized and promised to keep it down, but this wasn't enough for this woman, she continued like a nagging fishwife. She didn't even ask us to keep it down nicely. She completely aggressive. We were there at 2pm on a Saturday, in a space that is public property! I could understand a good ear full if we were raucous, making a noise at an unreasonable hour and had done so for a long time. However, we had literally been there for about 3 minutes.
Anyway my advice is to either keep it down, or otherwise be prepared to be yelled at or get into a fight with the witches - take someone who is good at arguing! (a park is public property for everyone to enjoy, and I didnt think a few yelping sounds are beyond the noise ordinance's range.)
One last thing. It says that the park, on one sign, is open from sunrise to sunset and on another sign it says it closes at 5. So I don't know about opening times... I didn't see fences so I don't think they lock it up? But reading some others' posts I am...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a great park. It is a bit difficult to find parking and is in a very hilly Nieghborhood, but it is worth the trip. There is a giant slide - even big enough for adults. From the bottom of the park you have to climb up stairs to the middle. There are two slides. Bring cardboard, as they are all concrete. A lot of people started out with cardboard, but then stopped using it. We had three kids with us on our visit. They were very excited. There were a few other children there at the time. I saw each kid slide down and then run back up right away. I don't know where they found the energy. The climb up the slide pretty serious. The top of the hill is beautifully landscaped and has a few...
