I just became aware of Saturn and Vulcan steps, and decided that I wanted to investigate them while the weather was so perfect. Saturn street steps are shorter than Vulcan, but they are much more interesting. The steps are about a block long, and there are some good handrails then entire way. The main steps are reasonably wide, then there are two level areas that branch off to the south. Both have park benches where you can rest, or just look at the beautiful views. The area is planted with lovely trees and flowering shrubs. The succulents were in full bloom when I went, providing vivid yellows. There is a ton of blooming jasmine at the top that are not only beautiful, but fragrant. If you like urban hiking, this is a great spot!

I have to say our visit on these steps was meow-nificent and it's all thanks to the Saturn Street Steps ambassador Buzz the cat. Not only was he dressed professionally with his bow tie on, he was really accommodating with cuddles. He purr-suaded us to keep walking when we thought we couldn't walk up another step and gave us the meow of encouragement we needed. If you haven't walked these steps I really recommend you do; they are the cat's meow.

These rustic steps are the little step sister to the Vulcan steps. Loaded with succulents.

Love all the stairs walks available in San Francisco. Pretty setting, lots of photo ops, and the several places to stop and sit on benches if you don't want to walk up them continuously. The stairs themselves are shallow so it's not like you're on a stairclimber, there are more stairs because they're smaller steps to take. Beautiful!...
