Yonkers Cafe replaced Sea Biscuit Cafe & Wine Bar, which apparently is a spot where numerous stores have been built and destroyed. After coming here, I can confidently say that the only time Yonkers Cafe will move out is because of the lack of space that it could accommodate its customers.
TL;DR version:
Good food - get the Yonkers special Great customer service I endorse Yonkers Cafe
ATMOSPHERE: This cafe is relatively small. If I could guess the maximum capacity, I would put it between 15-20. Once you enter the cafe, I would say that the vibe is a mood booster. There are booth chairs and booths inside with Wi-Fi so you could do work here! On the side near the door, there are stacks of cups and a container filled with water for self-serve.
FOOD & DRINKS: The sandwich that I got was the Yonkers Special, which had pastrami inside of the ciabatta bun. Honestly, I didn't know what pastrami was until my boyfriend told me that it was splendid and that I should try it. Best decision of the day! The Yonkers Special was incredibly flavorful. I requested to have "everything" included. Each ingredient perfectly complemented each other from every bite. I thought I was going to get full from eating the whole sandwich, but in fact, I was still craving more!
I tried both their hot and iced coffee which was probably one of the best coffee I've ever tried. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I'm down to get some from Yonkers.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: The definition of superlative customer service can be found here. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately greeted by employees here as if I was visiting a friend. I don't know about you, but when employees are smiling when they take my order, it gives me a positive vibe, and the chances of me coming back are higher.
One thing that stood out to me for the duration of my visit at Yonkers was Devil's Teeth Baking Company, who I would say is their competitor on Noriega Street because of the proximity. Let me tell you that Devil's Teeth has nothing on Yonkers. Yes, their breakfast sandwich may be tasty, but Yonkers hands down beats Devil's in the atmosphere of their respective restaurants, food & drinks, and most definitely in customer service. Devil's Teeth's customer service is non-existent. I remember my first visit and that's an ever-lasting impression on a consumer.
Would I come back here? Yes! Would I recommend this to friends? Hell yes!

Read moreI'd been here years ago... and had nothing but good things to say. That hasn't changed. Looks like they pivoted their business a bit and are capitalizing on the viral Dubai Chocolate Trend. Kudos to them!
#ViralTrends: ~ DUBAI CHOCOLATE STRAWBERRY CUP - 4.5/5 They use melted Belgium Chocolate... the big difference maker! Commonly regarded as the best Chocolate in the world... which explains the rich, creamy and chocolatey, yet not too sweet profile. It's a bit on the pricey side at slightly over $20 after tax, but well worth it. I wouldn't finish it myself, you are most definitely asking for an immense Blood Sugar spike. It's large enough to finish half in one sitting and enjoy the other half later. Packed with Strawberries, Kunafa and a good amount of melted Chocolate. Don't get it to go, you'll feel short changed. Order it to enjoy on the spot and then ask for a lid. The presentation is even better as well. If this had more of a Pistacho taste it would be a full 5 * for me!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: (2016 visit) Yonkers is a fantastic little local neighborhood Deli/Cafe. Every time I am on this side of town I will make it a point to stop by. The sandwiches here were amazing! I think I got to try the a good portion of the menu. The Yonkers Special, Firehouse, Golden Gate and the Salsa lito Turkey and Bacon. I can honestly say all of them were amazing! The Dutch Crunch here is just to die for! Forget all those mainstream sandwich chains...Yonkers has Dutch Crunch down!
The owner is nice guy, friendly and passionate about creating these delicious awesome sandwiches! Yonkers also carries cookies and other desserts by Berkich Baking from Richmond...across the bay.
Yonkers also doubles as a neighborhood Wine bar! They even have a small selection of beers on...
Read moreI was there with my son on 03/26 at around 4pm to try the famous Dubai chocolate strawberry cup and a sandwich. Waited 20 minutes and I got up to ask why 2 other people that ordered after us had gotten their orders, there was a man at the register in training and when I asked , he did apologize the first time and said it was coming. Went back outside and then another guy came in, ordered 2 of the chocolate cups and got his order and left so I went back inside and asked him again where was my cup. He instantly got upset, raised his voice and said there’s too many people ordering ( he had an European accent) and I said he didn’t have to get loud with me, I was asking a question after waiting 23 minutes for a stupid Dubai chocolate cup, he kept talking over me and yelled that they were busy and I didn’t have to be rude to him. Which o wasn’t, just asked where my cup was and that my son had been patiently waiting. Then he brings the cup with strawberries and chocolate dripping down the cup so o asked him to put the top over because I did ask him when I ordered for it to be closed with a top, my son was not going to eat it in the car. So another guy took it back cleans it and put the top over it. The taste was not worth the hype and having to wait and seeing people come in and go and we had wait still just to get yelled by some trainee and a grown man at that, not worth it plus my roast beef sandwich was horrible, the roast beef was way over...
