I bought a spoiled durian at this 99 Ranch Market. First, I went to the customer service counter and explained the situation to Staff Member #1 (abbreviated for clarity), requesting a refund. I also informed her that I had taken pictures and could show them to her. However, without even looking at my pictures, she told me that I needed to bring the spoiled durian back in order to receive a refund. Her attitude was very poor.
I told her that I could not accept this process because the durian is spoiled, so I had thrown it away. I found this requirement unreasonable, especially since the receipt did not state that spoiled fresh fruit must be returned in order to receive a refund. Staff Member #1 then said she would call someone else to handle my case (I will refer to this second person as Staff Member #2).
When Staff Member #2 arrived, her attitude and approach were much better. She first listened to my concerns and then reviewed my pictures before gently informing me that their store policy does require customers to bring back the spoiled durian for a refund. I still could not accept this policy, and Staff Member #2 then offered to call the store manager to resolve the issue.
When the store manager arrived, his attitude was also terrible. The manager was a slightly overweight man, approximately 170 cm (5’7”) tall. I am describing his appearance to ensure that my complaint reaches the correct person.
I explained my situation and request to the male store manager, but without even reviewing my pictures, he immediately told me that I had to bring the spoiled durian back in order to receive a refund. His attitude did not seem like he was trying to resolve the issue, but rather that he was trying to dismiss me.
That evening, I went back to the store with the spoiled durian and asked for the manager. This time, a different female manager came out and processed my refund.
I do not know how many store managers work at this location, but when I asked this female manager for the name of the male manager I had spoken with earlier, she told me his name should be Andrew. According to her, there are many employees in this store, and she was not present at the time of the incident. Even though I described the male manager’s appearance to her, she could not confirm if it was the same person.
I would like to file a complaint regarding the following issues: Some of the staff at this supermarket are highly unprofessional, especially the male store manager, Andrew. He lacks proper training and does not follow standard customer complaint procedures. If his role requires him to handle customer complaints, he should follow a professional process instead of being dismissive and rude. The store receipt does not inform customers that for spoiled food or fresh produce, the spoiled item must be returned in order to receive a refund. The store’s quality control is inadequate, posing a potential health risk...

Patricia Garcia Local Guide·79 reviews·20 photos 9 minutes ago NEW Today i came in with my son to get some rice noodles, sauces and snacks while waiting to eat at a nearby restaurant. I saw there was a large sign in front of the rice cookers that said sale 26.99. I figured it was the right price as the same one smaller version had the same sign just cheaper. When the lady rang it up it came to 69.99. I asked the lady who looked bothered, sorry I don't want it, can you tell me which one is the 26.99? Since the sign was blocking all pricing for that cooker and the one next to it and covering the entire rice cooker. She called a manager who came and yelled at me, that the sign that was 6 feet in the air was for the bag of rice on the floor. Then he gave me the dirtiest look and walked away pissed I didn't want it like I can read minds when the signage was nowhere near the floor. The lady was not very happy she had to call him either since she was giving me similar looks. I will never return to this store. If you aren't asian they treat...
Read moreThe Store 99 Ranch Market was probably the very first asian supermarket I visited when I moved to the west coast. There were few where I lived before, so asian supermarkets were a bit foreign to me. But 99 Ranch Market has all the asian essentials needs. It might not be the best of quality sometimes, and you might need to pick and choose. But it is not bad. There also might be different opinions depending on the product you buy. They have products ranging from produce, to meat, to hardware, and many others. Aside from the normal product aisle, they also have a section dedicated to bakery and hot deli. It provides convenience to those who want to save some time from cooking themselves.
The Miscellaneous This, as well as other 99 Ranch Market are within the plaza with a good amount of parking. The inside of the store separates into different sections to help locate what you are looking for. They sometimes also have employees offering samples of products they are promoting. For most of the typical asian essentials, you can probably...
