A "Personal Injury Lawsuit Waiting to happen!"
The Responsible CITY OF SAN JOSE MAINTENANCE MANAGER, should be Fixing the COURTS HERE, as a Priority! (Calabazas Park Courts)
The COURTS HAVE OPEN HOLES, Large CRACKS & Lengthy FISSURES on the surface! Horrible!
I play Pickleball here 3 days a week. And it's a matter of time someone has a SERIOUS ACCIDENT here, on a Public Recreation Area!
I've been told that the City has had Several ACTUAL NOTICES of the Nuisance problem, and has done nothing. This is the prerequisite for the success of a legal action. Repair has Not been done in a "Reasonable Time!"
I know there are "Budget Hurdles", But when Public Safety is involved, this should be a priority! I have personally seen players catch their feet, trip, & stumble inside these holes & cracks!
Also, The fact this area has No Windscreens is also a retraction for this facility!
Come on City! Make our Parksites SAFE & Attractive, Soon . . . w/ a definite start date!

Read moreBig park designed to accommodate many sports & activities. We played pickleball here on tennis courts marked for PB, with portable PB nets. The tennis nets conveniently stopped balls between courts. Out of 3 tennis courts, 2 were used to make 4 PB courts, and people took turns to play. Games go reasonably fast (every ~ 25 minutes) and people were courteous about taking turns. I really like the setup. The regulars here were very friendly and welcoming. Multiple skill levels made it easy for pickup games. Both genders well represented.
In addition to the PB (and tennis) courts, there were basketball courts (5 basketball nets), volleyball, baseball/ soccer field, large play structure, dirt bike course. All these options (except the baseball field) can be seen in the attached photos. I realized the park accommodates sports appropriate for all different...

There are lots of green spaces with nice walking/biking paths throughout as well as a baseball field, basketball courts, tennis courts, sand volleyball court, and BMX park. There are two main playground structures, one for ages 2-5 and one for ages 5-12. It is a small walk from the parking lot. Each has its own swing area and well as structures with slides, monkey bars, climbing structures, and musical toys built in. There is also a very large picnic table area with some coverage and grills plus a large parking lot with a good number of spaces. There is a public restroom available as well near the basketball courts. Overall a great place for families, pets, and those just looking to enjoy...
