I went to Go Fish today and received disappointing service yet again. I encourage all customers to closely monitor the server scooping you the fish. The scoop is already small and these servers are not diligent. Two scoop of salmon could really mean 1.5 scoop or less. The fish pieces are chopped into cubes and if you order the signature poke, with the onions and seaweed, you are not getting much poke when they scoop you a scoop and some meat fall off.
Also, they ran out of masago today at 5:30pm and tried charging me full price. I asked that they replace my masago with seaweed and they said seaweed will cost me $1 more. How is it logical that they charge me full price for a dish that is missing a key garnish? After escalating to a manger and debating this with other customers nodding in support, the server finally offered it as a replacement for masago. Customers in this area are not unreasonable. Why do you have to be so stingy and not think about the bigger picture.
To top off this experience the young server (Asisn male, with earring, tan, approx 5'7) was smirking rudely during this whole conversation when we were talking to the manager. If you were going to be in the service business and represent your store, put your best foot forward and check your attitude.
Stay tuned.. I am looking for a new poke place....
Read moretldr; PIECE OF HAIR & PLASTIC FOUND IN POKE BOWL I found a large piece of plastic in the imitation crab meat. Because it's a pretty large, visible piece of a plastic, it is not comprehendible that someone would be able to mix the crab or spoon it without noticing the plastic. There was also a repulsive gray hair found in my poke, which I found extremely disgusting: it not only portrays Go Fish Poke Bar's unsanitary practices, but also demonstrates the lack of care and supervision that goes into each meal--this just opens the question of what other suspicious, unhygienic practices & methods (that the Santa Clara County Public Health department should inspect) go on behind the scenes. Go Fish used to be a clean, friendly poke shop, but their quality has been exponentially deteriorating ever since they opened. The employees never seem to care, thus their horrible customer service. Additionally, portion sizes and the quality of food has been significantly decreasing. For example, they fill your bowl with very little fish, and if you order rice, it will most likely be very cold and hard (probably because it's yesterday's rice). Overall, I would not pay for this over-priced, unsanitary, and low-quality food, and I hope other people realize that there are other poke shops in the area that actually serve food that's...
Read morePoke places seem like they're popping up every other weekend in the south bay, but Go Fish Poke Bar is the one place I would go back to again and again (currently at 3). The place is a bit small so it's not really group friendly, and the waiting time can get quite busy if you go during the heart of dinnertime, especially on the weekend. I don't mess around with a small poke bowl, it's large all day long (5 scoops vs 3 on a small). I also don't care much for the specialty poke bowl combinations as I prefer to customize what I want in my bowl. Instead of having a bowl full of rice, I usually opt for the half/half with rice (either white sushi variety or brown) and yam noodles since the yam noodles lighten up the bowl a bit. Then it's usually scoops of salmon, yellowtail, spicy scallops, seared albacore, and signature poke mix. Love all their toppings, especially the masago, fried onions, and gilroy garlic furikake.
You can order through Ubereats but the bowls will run you an extra $1.50 compared to their in store prices ($12/$15 through Ubereats for small/large respectively). I imagine this is a pretty popular option since poke bowls hold up pretty well during delivery compared to many hot...
