St James Park — Attraction in San Jose

It can be a scary place at night so I don't go alone. But during the day I walk my dog without any issues. The folks that live in the park are actually good people that watch out for the ladies and would never harm anyone. They are all very respectful to me and others. They are simply people who have fallen on hard times and cannot get proper services to help them get out of the homelessness in Santa Clara county. The programs that are funded to help them are full of employees that DO NOT CARE and do not want to help anyone... I've faced this recently myself and it's beyond frustrating. God bless the beautiful people who show up at that park EVERY DAY to feed anyone that's hungry, without judgement or questions. If you're hungry get in line and they give you a solid breakfast, amazing tasting soups, water for the day and little snacks too. They have saved my hungry little butt more than once this month and I am truly grateful for you individuals who show the commitment to help people that society has deemed not worthy of assistance or human kindness. These people are human beings and sometimes just acknowledging their existence can go a long way and make a huge, positive impact on their day. You all should try...

Ok this is between a 3 and 4 star. No lies or BS there is a homeless presence and drug dealing but they seem to keep to themselves. I spent an entire day here with no issues at all, no one asked for money really interacted with me at all. The children's area is MASSIVE and fenced in and not encroached upon by the unfortunate situation the homeless are forced to endure. There were at least 2 individuals with rolling trash cans and clean up equipment. They were friendly and doing a awesome job picking up the park, and they had to be doing there jobs cause random trash was very hard to find. Overall nice old park, lots grass and space to find ur own spot. Would recommend but caution if the presence of homeless and some drug dealers and occasionally a wandering screaming person offend then this place is...

Gentleman that waited on me must have been having a bad day. I wasn't sure of a zip code, so I asked him to please double check it. He told me he couldn't, he needed the whole address otherwise I wouldn't be able to send my package! I'd been there 2weeks prior, & again, not sure of zip code. Lady who waited on me double checked it in her system, & off went my package. This guy was just not nice. He then printed out the label, & as he's going to put it on, he says under his breath, (btw I have great hearing), he says, "oh this is the wrong zip code", oh well" & puts the label on my package!
