I can confidently say, that you haven't eaten a real sandwich, until you've tried one from here! I've tried sandwiches from every establishment out there, and nothing compares! Where can you find a sandwich place that bakes their own sourdough bread, and bbq's their own meats? I think there might be one other place in San Jose that does, but there is some type of connection to this location. Side note: the employees at the other place are not very friendly.
I ordered the Russian, which is their roast beef and turkey on dark Russian rye bread and swiss cheese. I substitute the dark Russian rye for the fresh sourdough bread they make every 30 minutes or so. I'd say this crucial for the overall experience here. If you opt to get regular bread that you can get at any grocery store, you might as well go to Panera or Subway. The sourdough bread is so fresh, sometimes you can even see it smoking. It is always crunchy on the outside, and very soft and warm on the inside. This allows the bread to encase all the goodness inside the sandwich. They use their own special sandwich dressing, which is very light and not overwhelming. They are very consistent here, so you will never get a sandwich that is saturated with dressing. Since the all of their meets are bbq'd in house, the texture and flavor is amazing. Trust me, once you try a sandwich here, it will be very hard to settle for a Subway sandwich.
Sandwiches are set at $11, but you will probably end up eating half, and saving the other half for later. This is hands down my favorite sandwich place in the bay area! Don't forget it...
Read moreI've been frequenting Freshly Baked Eatery for more than ten years, and let me tell you, their sandwiches are unmatched in all of San Jose.
With fresh bread, top-notch ingredients, and quality meats, these sandwiches easily earn a perfect 10 out of 10 rating. Even during the busiest lunch hours, the service remains fast and efficient. To avoid the crowds, I prefer to visit either before the lunch rush or after for a quick pick-up. While you can always call ahead to place your order, I've found that ordering in person is just as speedy--I've never experienced any delays. The staff are always friendly and eager to assist. When perusing their menu, be prepared to make a decision quickly and know exactly what you want in your sandwich. Personally, I'm a huge fan of their Turkey & Pastrami combo, which pairs perfectly with their delicious bread. I still vividly recall my college days, walking in to find freshly sliced bread with steam rising from it, a sight that always evokes fond memories.
Both indoor and outdoor seating options are available, though tables tend to fill up quickly. They also offer a variety of chips and drinks to complement your meal.
While I may no longer live in the area, you can bet that whenever I'm nearby, I'll be making a beeline for Freshly Baked Eatery, cash in hand, ready to devour the first half of my sandwich in the car without hesitation. And if you happen to forget cash, there's an ATM available inside for your...
Read moreListen! You can’t go wrong here!!! I know, I know… you’re thinking it’s just a sandwich… but, until you have experienced the warm fresh crisp crunch roll that this quality deli meat sandwich comes on…! Believe you me..! It IS an awesome experience!!! Order your choice, grab a beverage and when you get your item go out to the patio seating and at least eat half of it! To “experience” the freshness, the quality and the taste of “not just another” sandwich!!! On one note, I did experience a somewhat negative visit… I am a never put onions guy! Always make it clear that I choose the no onion option! On one previous visit there was one seemingly strategically placed onion in the middle of my sand! Ha!!! It was very fragrant and oniony! I did bite into it and right away I spit it out! Ha!!! I opened the sandwich and yep! There it was…! It almost ruined the “experience” for me… but, the sandwich is phenomenal…! Sometimes their rootbeer in the bottle is out of stock… not a deal breaker… trust me! This is a...
