really disappointed in minboss, me and my bf are regulars here and neurospicy so on occasion we are overwhelmed with downtown and want to play some games to relax. an irregular security guard assumed we seemed too “intoxicated” while sober and they let in so many others looking like children stumbling over. i even talked to the manager about this and asked them multiple times how they can assume we were drunk and she ignored everything i was saying and the security guard gave no answers as to why. he probably wasnt sober himself and on some power trip. this behavior and discrimination is inappropriate. the head of security knows us well so we never have problems when he is working but the rest of the staff seems judgmental and biased, esp when we are locals that have been coming for years.
update: we have never caused problems here literally we play pacman and pinball a couple times and leave. but now they wont let us enter in at all bc of “multiple scenarios where we acted out” ??? completely made up. again very disappointing esp since we would go to support the artists that do their work, the head of security, and like supporting local businesses in general.. never had probs with their bar staff or caused any “scenes” as they claim so not sure why are we be being not allowed in anymore. shows theyre messy, unprofessional, and really need to work on their management, esp the manager who wasnt doing their job that day. clearly they do not care about their customers.
rude staff and bad management aside, the drinks are too sweet and overpriced, food is basic and unhealthy, games are okk fine for nostalgia but overall boring for adults.
please go elsewhere. this bar does not deserve business if theyre going to discriminate against sober neurodivergent people and treat their regulars badly...
Read moreBeen here twice. First time was on a date a few years ago, drinks were interesting but weak and pricy, and the place was too packed to really enjoy the games. Some random bought a drink on my open tab, but the bartender was cool enough to take it off. Overall it was fine, but I didn't feel the need to hurry back.
However, I went downtown this week with a visitor from out of town, and decided to go back here since many other bars were closed (bad weather, and it was only 5:30). Walking in the door, security stopped me, so I assumed they wanted my ID. When I went to get it, he went "nah, you can chug that right now or throw it out", pointing to a sealed (20oz!) bottle of gatorade I had in my pocket. I made sure he understood it was non-alcoholic and sealed but he said it didn't matter. The rule seems excessive to begin with, but especially since the bar was almost empty and we were there to buy drinks! I had a Gatorade because I was driving later and wanted to stay hydrated and safe. I felt like he was rude about enforcing something that was a silly rule to begin with. We had bags with us, so if we'd really been committed to smuggling the Gatorade we could have, but I decided not to deal with it and went elsewhere.
Anecdotally, I was at a different bar downtown recently, where security said an item of clothing I had was against their dresscode. I also thought it was a silly rule in that case, but the doorman was polite about enforcing it, and even held onto the item for me while I was in the bar, where we had a great time. I don't mind following rules (even dumb ones) but the situation at Miniboss...
Read moreMiniboss has been on my bookmarks since they've opened but I never got the chance to until last night. We stopped by on a Sunday night around 930-10ish after myth close by.
We got two rounds of drinks and small bites to eat. Winter on Niberu was my favorite because it reminded me a strawberry milkshake Casper was a second favorite because of the soursop component. My friends got other drinks but nothing wowed me except the Phoenix down bc of the smoked glass ball. Not a fan of the smokey taste but it was interesting. The blue pina colada reminded me of an AMF LOL but it was frozen so it wasn't too bad Definitely want to come back and try some others
We got the ham and cheese croquettes, crack wings and churros. We loved them so much that we ordered another round of the same food! That was enough for 4 people for a late night dinner. Ham and cheese croquettes were soft warm and crispy. Crack wings were perfectly seasoned and crunchy. Churros we're amazing with that caramel sauce. Prices were a little on the pricier side but not much. Drinks relatively the same $15-20
I loved all the games there, pricing was cheapish. We played initial D most of the night and it was 50¢ per game. Or 25¢ per race. The place was dimly lit, which was perfect for the illuminating games and neon signs on the wall
