Tabard Theatre — Attraction in San Jose

Small theater (150 seats?); pretty much all seats are good. Entry is street level but you have to climb two flights of stairs to get into the theater. Place could use some dusting, and TLC. Located in San Pedro Square Marketplace, plenty of cafes and food selection (including the Spaghetti Factory). Don't know the price of parking but there were garages close by. Stumbled on this place on a Friday night. They had Karaoke going on, friendly staff, short list to get on stage and awesome atmosphere for those who just want to sing and have fun listing to others sing. If you wat karaoke without a club atmosphere, this is the place. The entrance I found was through Dr Funks, go to the bathrooms and look for the door heading up stairs. Tabard is a charming theater group who enjoy involving audiences in their performances. Each performance is a fresh perspective of whichever play, skit or musical they are presenting. I have been going their for years and I love it. Each of their shows have matching cookies to purchase and they donate a portion of their proceeds to a given charity.
