Memorable Experience
Something told me to choose this, based on the photo and history. It is a very, very nice hotel, at about a 100 rooms, and had the attention to details in their decorations. I try to as much as possible, to reserve a "home away from home," that has characters, service and a dedicated staff I would know take care of my family.
LOCATION This is probably ONE OF THE BEST place to stay, if you enjoy short walks to local restaurants and bars. Especially, during happy hours. The city of San Jose, tries to keep the streets and area well maintained. I came from the Los Angeles area, and compared to LA, this place and surroundings was well kept and safe. Because of nearby business, such as the Adobe world HW and Zoom nearby, you'll see plenty of hard-working people and college students walking around trying to enjoy their day or evening to de-wind. THANK YOU SAN JOSE for appreciating your residents and visitors.
EXTERIOR & INTERIOR You'll have to decide, according to your preference, if the character (of the hotel) is more important than a cookie cutter 4 to 5 stars hotel. My family enjoyed more than the environment, but the staff that accommodated with a smile.
There wasn't a on-site dining option and the cafe option was minimal. But again, there a plenty of choices, within walking distance. BUT, inside the hotel, there is a very well crafted and beautiful bar, with a fireplace you and your company can enjoy after 5pm. Absolutely well-crafted and designed as fine wine (or beer).
PARKING Parking anxiety is probably another main issue with any place around downtown. You do have the pricey valet parking in front of the hotel, when available. BUT, you can park overnight for free at the metered parking AFTER 6PM TILL 9AM. There are probably a dozen of its available, right next to the hotel.
IF YOU CHOOSE TO, the city itself, owns parking structures all around downtown. I SUGGEST USING THE CITY OWNED PARKING VERSUS PRIVATE PARKING STRUCTURES. I had my tesla parked overnight, and not had any issues, while it was charging at a low rate of around 20 cents per kW. If you choose, and I do recommend if there are no parking in front of the hotel, to head over to the SAN JOSE SQUARE parking structure (owned and maintained by the city), which is only an enjoyable very short walk from the hotel, and only about $10 a night.
TO SUM IT UP I noticed I did not talked about the room. Same as the hotel's exterior, it was nicely decorated. My stay was a double bed, and had a mini fridge and a coffee machine. We didn't stay inside much, since this was a visit to attend the nearby university graduation and wanted to enjoy the nearby dining, drinking and culture.
THANK YOU TO THE HOTEL STAFF. Especially, the young lady receptionist, in the morning who always greeted and had a smile. Also the the crew of day shift receptionists. Those attentions to details, sacrifices to be nice to visitors, made everyday...
Read moreHotel De Anza in Downtown San Jose is one of those rare finds that feels like a boutique getaway in the middle of the city. From the moment you spot its iconic pink exterior, you know you’re in for something special. The architecture is beautiful and gives off a vintage charm, but the vibe inside is fresh, modern, and effortlessly cool, almost like a resort tucked into an urban landscape. This hotel has become a go-to destination for celebrations of all kinds. Whether it’s prom night, a wedding reception, or a baby shower, Hotel De Anza offers the perfect blend of elegance and laid-back style. The ambiance is festive yet classy, making it feel like a true event space rather than just another downtown hotel. The staff here are attentive and friendly, and they do a great job of helping guests feel welcome, whether you’re staying overnight or just attending a special event. The common areas are stylish and well-kept, and the bar/lounge area adds to that lively, celebratory atmosphere. One of the best things about this hotel is its location, close to great restaurants, theaters, and nightlife, but still feels like its own little oasis once you step inside. You can definitely feel the care that has gone into preserving the hotel’s historical character while updating it to meet modern expectations. Whether you’re planning a milestone event or just want a unique place to stay in San Jose, Hotel De Anza is a standout choice. It’s chic, charming, and full of personality a perfect place to...
Read moreRoom was nice, bed was comfortable. Very nice shower but it's a high step up or down to get it. They do have a grab bar to assist when getting g in and out. Perfect walking distance from the SAP center and to a lot of eateries in the area. Only parking is valet or a parking garage structure but they were full on the weekend so we had to use valet. My biggest complaints are 1) No tv service the entire time we were there. When we asked about it, we couldn't get a definitive answer as to why. We were told they would try to get service back by the next day but when that was said it came across like just something they say to get you off the topic and it felt like the underlying truth was they don't have any TV service. I saw online that several sites show this hotel is closed permanently so my gues sis it was closed but it's been reopened and maybe not everything's working like it should. 2) The only ice machine is in the basement level. 3) Elevators are very small but no fault of there's, the hotel was built in 1931 so that's to be expected. Staff was very pleasant and courteous. Area is nice and feels safe. Hotel is well kept and had a nice decor. Overall a good place to stay, especially the proximity to so many things to do, but please fix the TV...
