Tip: remember this is a new place so expect wait time to be longer than usual. New businesses adjust and may not have it all put together in the beginning. Have some grace. I would suggest you go midweek, non-peak hours for shorter lines. Don't expect to go during rush hour or on the weekend and think you will be in and out in 10 min. Please be patient and courteous.
I went on a Monday around 945am. My wait was about 20 min to order and about 10 min for my drink. Pastries are given to you right away. The seating inside was already all taken but we found a table outside.
This is a modern take on a Mexican panaderia/cafe. Cafe con pan is a Hispanic tradition. This won't be the place you trade in for your local panaderia. It's a coffee shop.
You can add some non-traditional coffee shop flavors to your coffee for a delicious treat. I ordered the iced latte with their horchata syrup. They also have a tres Leche syrup I will go back to try. I will also like to try their cafe de olla. They do have milk alternatives for those with dairy intolerances (soy, Almond and oak).
I had one of their sweet breads called Conchas but in the cupcake form to try something different, they named Conchitas. It's cute. Their regular Conchas are really small compared to the traditional ones you will see in a panaderia, but have one to compare the taste and for the experience. (If you have a nut allergy, you may need to skip their pan dulce)
The price is what you would expect for a trendy, hip, modern new coffee shop right in the middle of downtown.
I would recommend at least one visit to try for yourself. There is a range of drinks from: flavors, hot, cold, coffee, juices, and taste that may interest you.
*Something extra: You can add an image to any hot drink for free. You share an image from your gallery and that image will be printed on the top of your drink. I have seen this before in tea shops and it is creative. It's free, so why not have...
Read moreI had a lot of expectations for this cafe after seeing all the hype on social media. My over all assessment is that this cafe is most aesthetically pleasing than anything else. I loved the decor and the menu that was very nostalgic and paid homage to alot of Mexican treats and traditional menu items. The potential is there but the actual taste of what I had from the menu just didn't hit the mark I had anticipated and left me a little bummed. My friend and I had two horchata lattes, hot and cold and both were good lattes. The artwork on my hot latte was beautiful but did it taste like horchata? Not really. It was delicious don't get me wrong. But it didn't hit the mark for me. We also had a cheese tamal and avocado toast with added bacon & tomato. The avocado toast was yummy, given that its a simple menu item I didn't expect anything wrong would come of it and nothing did it was delicious and refreshing. The tamal was not near heated enough, the cheese inside was not entirely melted and the tamal itself wasn't as warm as we would expect a tamal to be so the cheese was more rubbery and came out of the masa entirely. The flavor however was really good just a bit rushed. The wait for our drinks was extremely long. Our food came out right away but the wait for the drinks was near 20-25 minutes whereas the food came out in less than 10. The staff were all very warm & welcoming and the cafe itself has a nice cozy lounging atmosphere like most cafes. They have a large menu with alot of specialty drinks with a twist for Mexican candy and traditional items that I want to try more of so I will be coming back forsure and hope to enjoy more...
Read moreThis is definitely a esthetical over quality"did it for the gram" coffee shop so if thats what your looking for this is the place for you.
Really wanted to support a local buiness even after reading all the reviews, cause in my opinion all that matters is the taste and quality of the food. Went there 2 hours after opening hours and waited in line for another hour or so ,the cafe de olla, and they were already sold out but got a latte instead. I kinda wish that they could have told the long line of people waiting that what they were already sold out of.
Mexican Mocha about a starbucks tall size for 7.19 with tax. Its definitely very pricey for a sweet drink of its size and if you food restrictions its an extra 1.50 usually in higher priced coffee shops it doesn't cost extra to substitute.
Didn't try the conchas or the other pastries but wanted to they didn't have much to choose from and they also didn't have prices posted as well.
The digital latte art was randomized and very cute touch but it didnt taste like coffee to me just an abuelita hot chocolate that you make at home with milk.
It seems that maybe the lack of employees equal to the amount of customers could be the reason for bad customer service, they didn't seem rude but maybe annoyed.
Also it seems to sell out fast of its most popular items, probably having purchase limits or re changing thier menu to only sell its popular items could help.
Would probably not give it another chance since seeing/hearing the bad reviews here and on Instagram from when it first opened and yet management not changing the way they run thier buiness.
Great concept...
