One of two major "lungs" in the city of San Juan, Central park (because NY didn't copyright the name) stands as a quiet sanctuary in the middle of a noisy city. This is "the park" you've got: tennis courts, pool, running track among other amenities. You've got to register to use them (not the track) but it's worth the hassle. There's also a linear track that runs parallel to the water canal but robberies have been reported there. Entrance is free but parking isn't you've got to pay somewhere between 2 to 5 dollars to park your car. Other than that not a bad way to waste time...
Read moreHad some time to kill between check out and airport. Took a $12 can ride over from Condado and it was well worth the trip. What a great park. Lots of different areas for the kids to explore. Giant tepee like structures, a map of the solar system as well as traditional monkey bars, swings and see- saws. Great walking/running paths. These were only the things we could see on our short visit there. Tennis courts and huge aquatic center with a full size Olympic pool as well a diving area. Read moreI used to come here fairly regularly about 10 years ago. Since then unfortunately the park has degraded a lot in terms of what it offers. Hurricane Maria seems to have really made an negative impact. The Natatorium, track and kid's park are all fine but the mangrove forests aren't accessible anymore. There used to be a park called Parque Lineal and unfortunately it is now closed off. It was a really great walking track from Parque Central to Hato Rey.
They should really fix this up again and re-open it...
