Awaken Church | SAN MARCOS CAMPUS — Attraction in San Marcos

I came to this church so broken one day to deliver food to a precious young lady. I thought the church was going to be different than what I've experienced with all of the other churches in my lifetime. I was thankful that people came around me and prayed for me, but the problem that I have is they made me feel like somebody was going to care about me and reach out to me to help me since I was homeless. I don't look homeless because I am very proud of at least dressing up so people don't realize that I'm homeless. I sleep in my car unless somebody opens up their home, like a precious lady that has given me a bed and a shower temporarily. The issue that I have with churches that call themselves Christians and that they want to help and they want to reach out and make you feel welcome, well don't say you're going to do something and not do it and I wasn't expecting anything I just wanted a place to park that was safe and that never worked out. The young man his name begins with a Chr...... , made me feel like he cared and that he would help and now I'm at a very bad place in my life worse than when I went to the church. I would rather have someone tell me nothing at all than to say that they're going to help and then they back out of it and they don't return my text when I'm just trying to update them. I don't feel any difference with this church from all of the other churches that's why I don't go to church is because of this very thing! I thought this was going to be a chance for me to be healed and now I am filled with more anxiety and depression and PTSD than ever before because nobody understands what it's like to be 63 years old and not have a place to land not have a place to call their own. I accept responsibility for the things I've done in my past and also said in my past, I take ownership but when someone feels that they're being rejected by everyone and God it's a little hard, I should say it's really hard to trust...

It would be nice if people could only give reviews of this church if they have attended it. I don't understand how people say they are Christians when they vote for Democrats, because the Democrat party is not in line with the Bible. No one party is perfect, and all governments in this world are currupt.

Just judging a church you have never been to, because you Google the church, and don't agree with the political views, and rate the church based on that wow.

I have experienced the benefits of tithing, and that is why it is preached.. not because of me, but everyone. God tells us to give 10% of our income to the church, so yes if you're obedient to God he provides what you need, and also God does say he will give us the desires of our heart.. obviously it has to align with God's word.

What I am saying is what is preached is what is in the Bible. God doesn't always make things easy, because He does teach the wadges of sin is death, so Google how many times hell is mentioned in the Bible. Yes God is love, and He loves us all, but you can't serve God and the devil, so we have to choose.

So if you want a church that will tickle your ears... This may not be the church for you.

This church is amazing, and I have never grown more in my walk with God like I have here. If or when you volunteer here you gain awesome relationships with the people you serve with. I have been a member at Awaken Church for 14 years now and it is the best church I have ever been a part of. The people here are genuine and kind, and there is a real community here. The biggest difference between our church from many others is that we fully invite the Holy Spirit into the church. We embrace the third part of the trinity whereas many churches ignore the Holy Spirit or try to limit Him.

Because we don't try to limit God here, people's spiritual gifts are unlocked and healings, miracles and deliverance can take place! I have seen people healed of cancer, freed from addiction, delivered from emotional and mental illness and much more because of the power of the Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus is the one and only Savior and we teach from the Bible every week. Our senior pastors Jurgen and Leanne are very well-versed in the Bible and are such genuine and wonderful people. The same goes for our campus pastors. Is this church perfect? No. Are there flaws? Yes. But you won't find a perfect church anywhere because there are no perfect people. That's why we need our Savior Jesus Christ every single day!

One of the main reasons I continue to come to this church is because I am constantly growing in my faith. I haven't plateaued here as I am given opportunities to stretch and be challenged. As a Christian, it's good to be uncomfortable and let others disciple you. I challenge you to come see for yourself.
