Alert! My experience might be one of a kind here. Up to the point that front desk people, such as Randy and Jose plus 1 not have even given his name should all be not only fired but sued for... you'll see. Hey, folks, I didn't have a chance even to get into this gym on Bovet Rd. I signed for a free pass last week - I haven't been there since the start of Covid (4+year) and after seeing the Daly city 24h location 2 years ago (now closed) - filth and dirty - hoped 24h gyms are back on their feet. I have signed on their page, have got a welcoming text message from Randy and was very inspired to start going to the gym again. That unnamed guy has looked at my Dr.Lic, and said that if I live in Pacifica, I've got to activate my free pass at that town (?!), Jose guy (a manager, kind'a) was ironically smiling, but has confirmed that weirdest thing. Even Randy was nearby and didn;t help me. I did have free passes in 24h fit and other clubs in my long fitness life, so I asked to show me on a paper or a site where it states so. They have shown me the small text on their free pass paper saying "locals only". They said - "living in San Mateo", nothing, of course, about "activation". What?!!! Pacifica is in San Mateo county and 20 minutes drive, closest 24hr gym with a swim pool! I am a fit tall 60+ (looking 50) blond woman, far from the kind, who wants a free pass, but not signing up... I was VERY upset, almost crying. But I have packed for a gym, so drove to the Millbrae location. What happened there is likely revealing a very gruesome and unbelievable thing can happen in this country. A front desk guy Tim instantly found a way to process my free pass ( I had only text message, and no email found with a qr code) and let me it. On the way out I was supposed to get all 3 days pass or sign up, if I choose. But he wasn't seen there and another, the Latino guy after shoveling through strange pages on a computer has said that I am not eligible for a free pass at all! I have spotted Tim nearby, and he has told me -otherwise - to keep coming with the same pass at any location next 2 days. So, thinking logically - Tim was a white American letting me in and in overall all 3 Latino guys didn't want me in... Read moreI love 24 hour fitness and especially this gym in San Mateo it has so much to offer. I love being able to take classess in one of 4 locations ( San Mateo, San Carlos, RWC, Millbrae), I have taken Spin classes, Body Pump and Body Combat and all were excellent. Excellent teachers, very motivating, challenging, and lots of fun!
I especially love the San Mateo location because I have leveraged the personal training department. I have the best personal trainer in the world there in Brian. I can honestly say that Brian is the best trainer I have ever had and I have had several at other facilities. I have been working with him for over 2 years now and at first we focused on therapy to heal my shoulder, foot and back. Then I broke my toe and Brian totally worked around my issues to help me continue my progress but still working around me being in a boot and having a broken toe. Brian definately puts the personal in personal training he comes into each session with a brand new custom personalized training session just for me. Each session he pushes me just a little bit harder. Brian says "it isn't working if it isn't hard". At 60, my health and fitness are honestly better than they have ever been in my life and Brian is helping me to meet my fitness goals.
I also want to give a shout out to the awesome staff at 24 hour I always get such warm welcomes from Mark, Jose, Angela and several others at the front desk. They all treat me like friends and always greet me with a nice smile and hello.
Lastly, I want to recognize Jason, the fitness manager. I had an issue with a trainer when I first started, he went above and beyond to make me happy, move me to Brian, worked with me to retain my business and to make sure that I remained a very happy Personal Training customer at 24 hour fitness. All of the trainers at this gym are top notch!
I have received spectacular service at this gym and I am very happy here. I give this Gym and all of its staff 5 Stars.

Read more8/26/25 I am so glad that I can update my review of 24 Hour Fitness at Bovet today. I gave its management a one star review back to 11/21/24 and am so happy that I can give a five star review to some of the staffs today. And hopefully the improvements have been done also thanks to the management's efforts made. First of all, I want to give my biggest gratitude to the cleaning staff, Yanira, for her tireless labors on cleaning and scrubbing the female shower rooms. I actually witnessed her scrubbing down the walls and floors of each stall yesterday probably for at least 2 hours. It's too bad that some of the members there don't have the good habits of cleaning up after themselves, so it does take lots of efforts for the cleaning and maintenance staffs to maintain the environment there. However, thanks to her hard works, we as memebers, certainly have been able to enjoy our workouts much more. I also want to give thanks to the front desk staffs who have always greeted us with friendly and encouraging spirits. Edlyn, Angelo, Sabrina have always been very pleasant and helpful to us members. In addition, the maintenance staff, Louis, also has always been there for us as long as it's not weekends. I cannot thank all the staffs who have been making our workouts much easier and joyful. We truly are grateful for their professionalism, too.
11/21/24 Bovet 24 Hour Fitness's management has been quite lacking. However, most of the staffs and maintenance personnels have been rather friendly and hard working. First, we're told that recently the staffs and maintenance workers' working hours have been cut and greatly reduced. And then, the swimming pool heater has been broken for almost one month even though the members were assured that it was going to be fixed at least two weeks ago. And it is still not fixed up till today when we were specifically told that it was going to be fixed yesterday, 11/20/24. It's winter time and the water in the pool has been freezing cold and quite impossible to swim. We're really disappointed by the managements of Bovet's 24 Hour Fitness, not to mention how they need to increase the hours...
