Borel Square Shopping Center — Attraction in San Mateo

Again with being asked to rate an entire shopping center? Seriously? How do you rate a shopping center? Especially when you only go to one specific establishment on the premises?

After our hikes, my uncle and I always have lunch, but this time (we'd been hiking at Wunderlich), the restaurants he had in mind were either too busy or couldn't be located (moved? closed?). That’s when he suddenly remembered Jack's, so we set out. I'd never been, but he had once before and knew I'd like it.

And he was right. The food was EXCELLENT. The atmosphere was great. And they have some of the BEST hot chocolate I've ever tasted at a restaurant. (Starbucks' hot chocolate is DISGUSTING. Peet's is better but not wonderful. But Jack's knows how to make a perfect hot chocolate!) Considering it was raining all the way through our hike and after, I was drenched, so the hot chocolate was absolutely WELCOMED.

I ate dinner with a friend at Jack's. I have not been disappointed with the service, the friendly atmosphere, the taste and amount of food served, and the warm atmosphere. I love the place! Prices are fairly standard. Grilled salmon salad is around $25.00. My favorite is sauteed petrale sole which is $24.95. It had two large filets with a lemon sauce and two sides. I like this little strip mall basically for CVS. And that's where I get my toes done from Terry's tippy toes she's really good and she still charges the original $25 so give her a try I think you'll be pleased.
