Hair Logic 发艺轩 — Attraction in San Mateo

My husband has had his hair cut here before and I decided to give it a try. I went for a trim and to get my layers refreshed. I asked for face framing layers and a u shaped back. Everything was going fine, or so I thought. After the wash and cut the stylist began blow drying it. Then without warning he started BUTCHERING my hair with thinning shears. I did not want my hair thinned and he did not ask before using them. I said I wanted layers and did NOT want my hair thinned. That only works on pin straight hair and unlike most East Asians I have wavy hair. Half of my hair is gone and will take forever to grow out.

I attached pictures: one of my hair a few months ago, and one the day after the cut so you can see how much volume was taken off without asking. Both are my unstyled natural hair.

Unfortunately had a really bad experience here - I think may they do some Asian haircuts well, but not if one has thicker coarser hair. Even if you bring a photo, it seems that what you request is disregarded, and they default to cutting your hair the only way they know how.

I had a shoulder length blunt bob haircut that had grown out and needed to be trimmed. I had a photo of myself for reference and said I did not want many layers. I trusted the stylist, but when I was done, my hair was too short, at least an inch more than I had asked for. Furthermore, so much volume was taken out and so many layers made that my hair just lies limp and makes my head look like a ball. It has now been almost a month and is still too short. The layers are a mess and will take even longer to grow...

I have been meaning to write a review of this barber shop tucked away in the Marina shopping center (on the North side close to the Japanese restaurant). I’ve been searching for a barber that consistently gives good haircuts and have been disappointed by just about every place I’ve been since I moved to Foster City in 2014. Even the highest-rated legendary barber shop where you have to know someone to get an appointment wasn’t cutting it. (Pun intended.)
