LONG APPRECIATION POST ALERT: THIS. PLACE. WAS. FANTASTIC. INCREDIBLE. EXCITING. LIKE ANY WORD THAT IS FUN BUT INTENSIFIED. I BOUGHT MY SON THERE TUESDAY, OCT. 1ST FOR HIS 13TH BDAY. HE LOVED IT SO MUCH HE DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE AND WE VOWED TO COME MONTHLY--IT IS WORTH IT AND DURING THE WEEK, IT IS NO WAIT, WE DID NOT MAKE RESERVATIONS AND ALTHOUGH IT CLOSES AT 9, IT IS STILL BEYOND WORTH IT. MY SON LOVED IT AND SAYS IT WAS HIS BEST BDAY, WE TALKED ABOUT COMING BACK TO HAVE A PARTY THERE OR RENT THE PLACE OUT. I LOVE HOW YOU DO NOT REALLY KNOW WHAT KIND OF PLACE IT IS WHEN YOU ARRIVE, MY SON WAS SO SURPRISED AND ALTHOUGH ILOOKED IT UP ON LINE, I WAS EVEN TAKEN ABACK AT HOW MUCH IT WAS TO DO ONCE INSIDE. I WAS LOOKING FOR PLACES THAT HAD LASER MAZES AND THERE AREN'T ANY REALLY THAT POP UP WHEN YOU SEARCH, THEY ALWAYS TEND TO ONLY HAVE LASER TAG. I HAVE BEEN TO EVERY PLACE IMAGINEABLE WITH MY 2 BOYS WHO ARE NOW BOTH TEENS. WHILE I LOVE OTHER PLACES LIKE D & B OR ANDRETTI'S OR URBAN AIR--I WANTED SOMETHING DIFFERENT. OMG--THIS PLACE WAS BETTER THAN ANY OF THE PLACES WE HAVE BEEN. WHAT A GEM. WE LIVE NEAR LOCUST GROVE AND MADE THE DRIVE, SURVIVED THE TRAFFIC, GOT THERE A LITTLE BEFORE 6 AND HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME. W/ 14 GAME ROOMS, THE OPTION TO PLAY COOPERATIVELY OR COMPETITIVELY AND EACH OPTION HOSTS BETWEEN 2-6 OR 7 GAMES AND EACH GAME HAS OVER 8-12 LEVELS (MAY BE MORE) THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY YOU CAN DO EVERY GAME IN ONE NIGHT WHICH MAKES YOU WANT TO COME BACK! THE STAFF WAS FRIENDLY, I WISH I WOULD'VE GOTTEN THEIR NAMES BUT THE GUY WITH LOCKS THAT HAD COLOR ATTHE TIPS HELPED US UNDERSTAND HOW IT WORKS (THE LOCKERS ARE AMAZING AS WELL) AND THE YOUNG LADY WHO WAS AT THE COUNTER WHEN WE ADDED MORE TIME WAS AMAZING. THEN WE MET ANOTHER GENTLEMAN WHO WAS HELPFUL WHEN WE CAME OUT. THEY ALLW ISHED MY SON HAPPY BDAY. I LOVE WHEN YOU ARE SO IMMERSED IN FUN YOU HAVE NO TIME TO TAKE PICS OR SHOOT VIDEOS. I GOT AS MANY AS I COULD BUT WAS TOO BUSY PLAYING, EVERY ROOM WE WENT IN WAS JAM-PACKED FUN AND AN OLDIE LIKE MYSELF DID WHAT I COULD BUT EVENTUALLY I WAS OUT OF BREATH LOL. IT WAS SO MANY FAVES REGARDING GAMES WE COULD NOT STOP PLAYING, I CAN NOT NAME THEM ALL. I HAVE BEEN TELLING EVERYONE I CAN ABOUT THIS PLACE--IT IS FOR ADULTS, KIDS AND IN BETWEEN. IT COULD BE A FUN DATE NIGHT, FAMILY HANG OUT OR TEAM BUILDING WITH CO-WORKERS. IT IS THE BEST...
Read moreUpdate: Played again in Charlotte tonight and requested a "SYNC" to my profile which fixed my missing stars from Atlanta. Shout out to TJ for reaching out and attempting to address my concerns. He tried to defend his Climb room but I standby my assessment that the floor radar is busted and needs to be investigated further. Plenty of videos online to backup this claim.
I came from Charlotte to Atlanta specifically to visit this Activate location. I am a top five player in Charlotte and I wanted to see what the experience was like playing at a different location. The experience was pretty similar overall but I had two major issues with this visit. One game room in particular Climb, the game mode Technique was unplayable because of a faulty floor sensor that detects when your feet is on the ledge. It was penalizing us for no reason being way overturned. Considering this is the only room that Charlotte doesn't have and won't be getting, this really sucked. The Whack a Hold mode did work better so I still got to play at least one of the two games in this room.
My other main complaint is Activate arbitrary rank/stars/badge/scoring system. Now I was already aware the score leader boards are separate at each location. My player rank of 5 showed correctly but the amount of stars and badges I had were drastically lower than my Charlotte totals. There are only 4 unique badges to ATL due to that Climb room but beyond that, everything else is the same (or so I thought) . So why are my stars so drastically different between locations? I earned 100 stars over two play sessions and I should have received a badge for playing at a different location that would have leveled me up to rank 6 had my stars progress correctly followed me. My level progression in all of the games was the same at both locations so why not this?
Activate Games continues to be great fun but they must work on having accurate and transparent platform for players to track their progress no matter where they play if they truly want to be a...
Read moreUpdate: changing 5 star review to a 1, because it's gone way downhill
games are damaged and not being repaired making advanced level play impossible. One tile here or there that just always errors or broken sensors occasionally doesn't seem like much and it doesn't matter If it's a kid who just wants flashy lights and colors but if you actually want to play the game, there's several that aren't playable at any time and they stay that way for months.
management does not intervene with disruptive patrons, I'm talking forcing doors open and barging Into games, hiding in rooms, running into people,
management lies about ability to accommodate group sizes. We showed up with 3 couples and nothing about the contract or rules when they took our money said we had to split 3/3 but when we got there, they refused to give the multiplier to a wrist and, standard for a group of two, so we could stay with our partners.
They cited that it's "too busy" which is objectively stupid, because 1 room of 4/2 and one room of 3/3 is the same number of rooms.
Further, we've been given that excuse before, claiming the system won't let them, and they were able to do it before, so it was a blatant lie both times.
Fix your games, stop lying to your patrons and screwing them over, and manage your clientele.
I brought so many groups to check this place out, but now it's Activate that's completely checked out....
