I need to share a great experience I had on Sanibel. We went to Lighthouse Beach and thoroughly enjoyed our day. We knew traffic would be bad getting off island, so we pulled off in the plaza with Tuttles and the old Lighthouse Café. We took our time at the ice cream joint and just missed Tuttles closing. So we mosied down to the shop on the end. I've been there many times in the past. Back in the day(4 years ago), it felt like grannies shop from the 80's with old Tommy Bahama and Chico's wannabe fashions. Not any more. They're now called EmOcean and it was a great shop. All the trinkets and baubles you'd expect plus TONS of great clothes. Not super pricey, but not cheapy either. They have lots of square footage filled with great stuff. We were talking with the owners(as we were in no hurry due to traffic), and aside from the horrible Ian story that far too many shop owners endured, he was a great guy with a great attitude and a commitment to Sanibel that I'm SURE cost him alot of $. After we paid and said our goodbyes, he came out and gave my family several shirts. Of course I said no but he insisted. I put the shirt on today and I must say...the 2XL fits great. I should have expected no less. It's just great getting back on the island...it looks alive again.

This store is a little bit different than the “World Famous Shell Shop” immediately to its North in the same small plaza. Although it’s nothing spectacular, it has a pleasant selection of beach inspired clothing that one might need…we’re they to say….”I wish I had a pair of flip-flops, OR man….a nice long sleeve light shirt for protection from the sun would be great”….you would probably find your needs met here. The lady working was kind to the customers we saw cashing out, and it seemed more so well- attended than the “Shell Shop” also. You could maybe take a peak in here also….if you feel so inclined.

Very nice, large store. Look small for me outside, but it is a lot larger once you get inside. Not a lot of space in 'aisles' so may not be as ideal for guests in wheelchairs, But there's definitely a lot of stuff to choose from! There were a couple decent sale prices, but most things are full price. Souvenirs, clothes, Beachwear and many other things! The cashier greeted me promptly when I walked in, and was very kind! Nice place!

So I just have to say that our experience here was really cool. We were in the area on vacation and visiting old friends and I decided to show the family the lighthouse. We swung in this gift shop on the way back to grab some souvenirs for the family. The place is super nice and the staff was great. The prices were not driven up to take advantage of tourists. They were actually great prices! I’m originally from Daytona/Orlando so I know 100% about how tourists are taken advantage of a lot of times. So we picked up a few extra things. They had a great hat sale going on so we grabbed some of those as well. When we got to the counter to pay there was some confusion about the price of the hats. There was no big deal made about it and we continued purchasing the hats. We get it. Mistakes happen. The owner happened to be listening and stepped in. He immediately expressed his concern for the confusion and took my wife and myself back to the hat area and gave us each a hat of our choice. We politely refused but he insisted. In case you don’t know Sanibel was decimated by a hurricane in 2022. Literally wiped out. For this guy to make sure things were square with us even though we never asked nor expected anything showed us the true spirit of the locals after what they have been through. Definitely swing by here if your in the area! They sure would love to see you!...
