Goodwill of Orange County Marketplace — Attraction in Santa Ana

To THE OWNER. As a nurse I truly believe in supporting my community in various ways. One of which is by shopping at Goodwill sometimes. I usually have a great experience with the staff here and the other manager, she is wonderful but she wasn’t on site today. Ask several of your employees, I am a happy, friendly, “Hi, how are you doing?” type of customer, always respectful of your staff members.

Today Tony infuriated me for no reason. Other than he couldn’t admit he was wrong. Tony an assistant manager was VERY rude to me today and did not display the customer service oriented problem solving skills essential for someone in a leadership position. He actually had the nerve to call me “the customer “ rude. Check the cameras if you want to see the proof re: the incident I am about to share. Go back on the surveillance camer 5 minutes before I paid on 11/15/21 opr 15903 12:35

Again, Tony is his name. He was in the process of checking me out at his register when another customer came to the side of his register he turned, stopped checking me out and gave her his full attention and assisting her. WITHOUT asking me to please give him a minute, etc, etc. Eventually I had to say to Tony, “I have somewhere to go, either get someone else to help me or finish my transaction because in need to go” Tony replies, “You’re being very rude” I respond “No you are being rude, you don’t start helping someone else in the middle of helping a customer and not say I’m sorry can you hang on a sec or something” I ask to speak with a supervisor and Tony says he’s the assistant and no one else is here. At NO point did Tony acknowledge he error. That’s unacceptable as someone who is supposed to be setting the example for others. Tony STILL had an attitude even after the customer he was helping LITERALLY sought me out and apologized right in front of him because she understood what my issue was. Tony still kept an had an attitude as if he was in the right. All I did was support the goodwill, wait in line to pay for my items. TONY caused the problem by his lack of customer service skills and poor judgment. As a nurse I would NEVER argue with a patient even if they were wrong. Tony desperately requires customer service skills training and conflict resolution training if he is to remain as part of the leadership team. I have never had any issues at this locations since I’ve been shopping here for years now.

The Santa Ana Goodwill on Fairview has several different features including a Goodwill Retail Store, In person Auctions and a computer store. I have personally never visited the auctions area where they action products in bulk. The Retail Store is one of the larger Southern California Goodwill Stores, it is nicely laid out and divided into two areas. The front of the store is all clothing, they have a wide selection. The back side of the store is household products and electronics. Of all the Goodwill Stores I have ever visited, this location has the largest selection of household items with about six rows and each row having two aisles. The general electronics selection is relatively large, near the front wall of the back of the store and the appliances section is moderately large at the back wall of the back of the store. In between the clothing and the household area so the store is a small furniture area that is cramped together. In a connected building, this location features a Computer Store. The computer store is the largest Goodwill store for electronics limited to Desktop and Laptop Computers, Printers, Video Game consoles and games, Stereos, a few cameras, speakers, computer monitors and sometimes a few TV's/ They have a very large selection of computer parts - great if you are building a computer and need some older parts like hard drives and video cards. The computer store sticker prices are on the high side, often times one of their used Desktops or laptops they have refurbished are sold for the same price or more that you could go to a discount electronics store like Fry's and buy a lower end brand new model. If you get to know that Computer Store Employees and buy a lot of products at the same time, or are a regular customer, some will give you a discount or allow you to negotiate a better price. The video game consoles at the front of the store have been tested and checked to make sure they work, but if you buy a video game console from one of the store shelves in the middle of the store, they are general not tested and often do not work. If you are in the area, then this store is worth putting on your list of stores to swing by and visit. In the 13 years I have been visiting this location which is over 50+ miles away, the employes have been very friendly and the computer store employees...

I've been here numerous times before and after their expansion. Before the renovation, prices were cheap. Not a lot of selection but the prices were great. I didn't think it was too bad just that there wasn't more stuff to shop for. It wasn't the most cleanest back then and still isn't is. Only difference now is there's more things and everything is marked up.

A lot of stuff comes from Target returned items. Some of them are damaged so if you find something here always double check to see if you have all the pieces or make sure nothing is broken. Staff isn't the nicest here. I wouldn't be in the best mood if I worked here either. Too many people bring their kids and they leave a mess all over. I wish they wouldn't bring them at all to a place like this. Their clothing portion is overpriced for used items. I think you can get cheap halloween costumes here though. Electronics you should avoid. Nothing there to really buy unless you want out of date stuff. Housewares are a toss up. Overall, I don't shop here even though there's more things to look at. It's a nicer place but it's overpriced in my opinion. Btw the Goodwill CEO makes 6 figures and pays the staff min wage. All the items are donated but where is the...
