I know it’s a long review but it is really upsetting.
This Target used to be okay.
But it changed during my last visit. Went in to buy a gift card in October of 2022.
Since there was no employees at the registers I tried the self checkout to purchase this item. When I scanned the gift card it said to scan again so I did. Started to pay with cash then the machine malfunctioned. Most of the money got stuck in there. Others were having issues with basically every self checkout machine. Eventually the machine said that an employee would come over to help. I waited and waited and no one came over. A couple minutes later a young looking employee went up to the register and tried asking her for help. She seemed like she didn’t really know what to do. She told me to wait for the other employee. She ended up getting another employee and they said to wait in line and I’ll pay there and get the money I lost in my machine back. I did get the money back which I was appreciative about. So I went up and paid for it again. The woman cashier was mumbling stuff that I couldn’t make out. I was just ignoring it so.
About 10 minutes after I purchased the card I tried to use it. First couple of times on said site said insufficient funds. I checked the balance online and said it was an invalid card. I thought it was too soon use (other cards I could use right away) and decided to wait another 20-30 minutes and still get the same messages. I tried a couple of other sites and gave me the same message. I was busy so I couldn’t just go back to the store right away. About an hour later I was able to go back to this location and talked to the employee who sold the card to me. They said that they couldn’t do anything since the card was used or activated. I said that it was an invalid card and couldn’t use it and they were stuck on what they said.
I went outside and went to the website and the number on the card. Both said the same thing that the card was invalid. Went in and got someone to page the manager. Explained it again and said that I contacted the company and said it was invalid. The manager claims that they can’t do anything and I have to contact the company card. And again I said I did and it was an invalid card they sold me. I asked if they do it with other people too and they didn’t want to answer. They didn’t want to do anything again so I left.
For nearly 4 months afterwards I was dealing with Target, the card company, and many customer service people who were basically no help. Finally 2 weeks ago the Visa customer service sent out a new card. All this that I had to deal with for a $30 gift card (that Target could have done in 5 minutes or less if they...
Read moreI am absolutely appalled by the disgraceful behavior I encountered from an employee named Omar at Target. His attitude was shockingly rude, dismissive, and completely inappropriate for someone working in customer service. From the moment I asked a simple question, he treated me with such disrespect and arrogance that I genuinely thought he was joking — but unfortunately, he wasn’t.
He rolled his eyes, raised his voice, and made me feel like I was a burden just for needing help. When I tried to clarify something, he interrupted me and acted like I was wasting his precious time. I’ve never felt so humiliated and uncomfortable in a store before.
It’s beyond disappointing that Target allows someone like this to represent their brand. Clearly, he has no training in basic manners, let alone customer service. I left the store angry, frustrated, and deeply upset — all because of one person who shouldn’t even be allowed near customers.
If Target values its reputation and customers at all, they seriously need to reconsider who they’re hiring. Omar’s behavior was not just bad — it was unacceptable, unprofessional, and frankly,...
Read moreMay 13, 2024, I would like to encourage management and employees to remember that customer service is vital. Positive customer service is essential. 3 years ago I gave this store a five-star. Today I took one star off because we seem to have lost track a little bit. Let's get back to greeting customers, asking if you can do anything to help assist the customers, and being friendly during the checkout process. It's also essential to be friendly during the return process. I know it's not an easy job and it can be difficult at times, especially when you're dealing with customers who are rude. However, remember that it is your everyday and regular clientele that make this store what it is. Let's get things back together and I look forward to giving that five star review again very soon.
This is what I wrote about this story 3 years ago:
Nice people, good location, very clean store, and a good place to shop for a variety of items. A lot cheaper than Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Vons, and Ralphs. I think I will start shopping here at this...
