I was trying to donate a two-piece couch set. After waiting 10 days.....TEN DAYS.....for my appointment, and then over half a day waiting for the truck to arrive, I was told by the workers that due to a slight discoloration of one arm of the couch, they would not take the donation. Not a stain.....not a tear.....not damage. A discoloration. I was so stunned by this silliness I actually asked the guys if they were kidding me, if I was being punked.
This is a charity? I'm donating a perfectly good couch/sleeper that is about a year old. And you refused to take it over a slight discoloration????????????? Were you people at ReStore expecting hand carved 19th century pieces or something? You're a charity taking in stuff people don't want or need so that others who can use those things can get them at reasonable prices. This was insulting.....you wasted my time.....you wasted my whole morning and a good part of my afternoon for a silly policy. Thanks for nothing. But I shouldn't have expected any more than I...
Read moreAfter being told the the two recliners we were looking at were “new” we bought them despite the $400.00 ea. price tags. When we got them home, we found that one was deficient in the stuffing in the back because it has been sat on for many years. Didn’t notice it until I sat in it for a while. I had to put extra padding on top of the seat so I could sit in it. The young men when we bought it said yes, they’re new. Of course I knew they weren’t new, but expected them to be at least like new. They have the corded buttons to operate the chair. I didn’t know that that was an old fashion way of setting up the recliners the new ones don’t have that anymore so he didn’t tell us the truth. It’s on me that I didn’t know that I guess but for $400 apiece I think he should have thought more about it before he said what he said. I find a place to be over priced. The people are very friendly and it’s...
Read moreAs most know about Sarasota there are a number of good thrift stores and it's not hard to get great deals but I have probably bought the most here and spent a lot of money in the six years that I've been in Sarasota. 18 months ago I bought a pricey piece of furniture here with a hard fabric to match. It was supposed to have pillows, they were missing. They wouldn't discount the furniture so they gave me a $20 credit. ($20 Does not go far in the store by the way. ) it was during Covid. So I went in to buy something today, six months after the credit expired and they wouldn't even look at it. I think that's a business policy totally lacking in empathy. I used to have a store and I would have taken the $20 off of the furniture to begin with And I paid for the merchandise I was selling. FYI, I think they get all of this furniture...
