My daughter and I found this place on January 2nd, and we have been there every Friday since, as well as a few other visits here and there with my mother at other times during the week. As a matter of fact, we have turned Friday night's into Mexican Food night because we love their food so much. I was ordering the Chicken with Mole Sauce at first and it is phenomenal, but I didn't want to get stuck ordering the same thing every week and miss out on everything else. So, last friday I ordered the Spinach and Cheese Enchiladas with Verde Sauce, and that sauce is the most AMAZING Verde Sauce I have ever had. It is sooooooo flavorful!!! Then last night I ordered the Carnitas in Verde Sauce, and it was the most tender, juiciest carnitas I have ever had in my entire life and that's the truth. I will definitely be ordering that again next Friday. My daughter gets the beef burrito with traditional Verde Sauce and a side of beans and rice every time we go, and she absolutely LOVES IT and says she could eat it forever. My mother gets Chili Relleno with a side of Mole Sauce, and she clears her plate every time, which is a very, very big deal because that NEVER happens anywhere else. Last night was the first time we ever ate inside (we usually carry out and go home and watch a movie with dinner), but we decided to eat there, and as soon as we sat down, Vanessa, our amazing waitress, brought us a trio of different salsas with our chips. One was a traditional red salsa, the other was a chopped salsa with cabbage and other delicious stuff and the 3rd one was my favorite. It was a traditional cucumber and onion salad/salsa with delicious spices and cilantro, too, I believe. It was a perfect start to our meal before dinner came, and Vanessa told us that they only offer those salsa's in-house and only on Friday thru Sunday. Everything in this restaurant is delicious! Plus, you know it has amazing food when other Mexican and South American people come to eat there. It has the same delicious taste as you would find in an abuela's kitchen in Mexico, and it is decorated with items brought in from Mexico, too. Everything about La Brisa is authentic, and the owner/chef is a culinary genius. She even came out and spoke with us before their rush started, and she was very friendly and incredibly humble as well. The ONLY downfall about this place is that it is VERY hard to find because there is no sign to see from the road and unless you've been there before, even from the parking lot it can be difficult to see as well. There is tint on the windows, so it looks closed from the road and the parking lot except for a small neon "OPEN" sign in the window. It is in a very tiny strip mall with Subway at the end, and it is just south, a block and a half, of 12th and 301 on the east side of 301. BUT...other than the fact that it is hard to find and hard to tell if it's open, La Brisa is one of the best Mexican Restaurants I have ever eaten in, and it is, in my opinion, the best Mexican Restaurant in the Sarasota/Manatee County area. A...
Read moreHorrible customer service by waiter, (his name might be Pierre), they were trying out music or their new sound machine and they put it suddenly so loud my 3 years old got a panic attack and was so scared i had to get out of there. We were right in front of the music and they had zero consideration even when they saw that my son had his hands covering his ears and I was covering his ears as well. In the other hand, i was ignored and dismissed by the waiter. I asked him for water for me and my son and he was like no, I didnt ask you, something like that. I asked him for a side of Avocado and he dismissed me and never brought it to me. I felt ignored by him all the time. Ridiculous. I have never dealt with such rudeness. I didn't even feel like he deserved the 18% tip they added to the final bill. He never asked me if my child wanted to eat something, I'm glad i brought him snacks to the table. Next day i woke up with my stomach super upset and i had to puke. Chicken tacos were tasteless. Can't say about drinks cause the waiter never asked me if i wanted to drink something. Heck, he never even brought menus for half of the table, even when we got there a few mins after the the first half of the party. I would AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT AT ALL COSTS. I regretted not going to PF Changs instead where I know i will be treated...
Read moreOur first few experiences here were satisfactory, but only because of the food. The complementary chips, salsa, creme fresh, pickled onions/cucumbers are great. The service, however, has consistently been bad. The wait time on entrees takes much longer than your average wait time. The waitstaff, while friendly, seems to consist of family members and friends, none of whom appear to have the slightest bit of experience waiting tables. But our most recent dining experience at this place is what has prompted this review. The green sauce on my chicken enchiladas had so much cumin in it that the dish was inedible. I asked our waitress for some sour cream in the hopes that dowsing my food with it would mask the cumin taste. She said, "Sure, no problem", but never brought it. I had to go to the register to ask for it. When both food and service are unsatisfactory, it's time to stop giving benefit of doubt. Sad, because this place has the potential to be great, but I'm afraid inconsistency and bad service will...
