Make it right and they did!
a few weeks ago got the wrong sandwich I called and reported it. They were very awesome about it and told me when I come back and they would take care of it. I wasn't up to going out for several weeks because I was ill. When I called today and mentioned it then you right away what I was talking about and said come on in we'll take care of you. I pulled up to their curbside ordering and when I mentioned it to the order-taker she knew right away what I was talking about. She took down the sandwich asked if I would like anything else I decided to try their onion rings and since I already had a drink from earlier at the speedway I did not need another drink. Melissa I order taker who was completely Awesome by the way went and took care of my order. While I waited I thought about how awesome the manager Nancy was to be sure that her people were prepared for me and it was no question about when I pulled up and asked for something that they knew right away what it was. As a manager most of my life I really appreciated the customer service element that Nancy had just used. More importantly I was impressed with the fact that Melissa apparently listens to her employer and had committed that to her information for the day so she was ready for it. To my pleasant surprise my order came out quickly and hot and Melissa in for me at this point that my entire order was comped and that they look forward to me coming back. I was extremely shocked and very much impressed by this gesture. The hobnob is in a restaurant but it's also a piece of Sarasota history it's been around as long as I can remember and I was born in Sarasota it is really a very unique place and I really recommend you check it out. Thank you Nancy and Melissa for making my...
Read moreI’m a fan of both positive reviews and regrettably the poor ones. That being said we will never go back to this establishment. Never mind that the burgers were dry and the fries were done in what was most likely very old fryer oil or that the place is at the corner of a very busy intersection that takes away from the ambiance or nostalgia of an old school drive in. None of these things should worry folks more than the “free soda refills “
Many years ago I supervised a top to bottom sanitation for a nationally recognized food service provider that had a serious EColi outbreak that sent over 100 patrons and staff to local emergency rooms and cost the company hundreds of thousands of dollars to recover from. The source of this outbreak was traced back to an unsanitary and infectious soda fountain like the one used here at Hob’s.
When the server offered our party refills we were more than happy to accept them until we watched her use the cups that we were drinking from and place them under the soda dispenser and fill them up. Sorry but I could have a cold or the guy before I got there could have been infected with some strain of God knows what and these pathogens are being transferred to everyone else’s cups each time they refill a cold soda.
Some serious questions as to what the kitchen looks like behind all the flash and fancy exterior decorations.
Hopefully the folks here read these reviews and...
Read moreI'm from Austin and if there's one thing I know, it's diners. We have a healthy, not so healthy Texan competition from where I'm normally picking up onion rings. But this place is incredibly overrated by locals, I've been twice. Once in 2013, once in 2023.
This most recent time I'm typing this review out as I just took two immodium to help me stop the runs. My burger looked like it had seen the back of the freezer for a few months before sitting on the griddle for about 3 hours before being served. Onion rings had a panko crust which I thought was a bit weird, until I dipped them in the orange colored sauce that looked homemade. The rings were better without the orange sauce, but they had a hint of fish flavoring in the grease when I ate them stand alone. I also tried to eat my pickle spear, but two bites in I could tell they had gone off too.
I could probably have looked past all of this if I wasn't sitting on a toilet right now regretting my earlier decision, but my local friend was all bricked up over the idea of going there and this second chance will be my last.
The tables are actually uncomfortable as all get out, and my wife really banged up her leg when she went to sit down to the point where it almost drew blood. Seriously though, full metal table with concrete support posts -- why??
Sorry culture crowd, this...
