Let me preface my experience by saying that there is an Apple store at the new mall @5 minutes away--there is no reason to bring your Mac to this gentleman for repair.

I'd noticed that my lapper was getting particularly hot and that my iPhone was not making connection with it through the USB ports, so I took it in to this place for diagnosis. He told me right off without doing any tests that the board must be cracked and it would be sent out to Apple for a flat $400 repair fee. As I hadn't been anticipating having it sent out, I told him I'd have to bring it home and back up my files first, but he assured me it wasn't necessary; that they wouldn't have any reason to touch the memory.

Guess what happened?

Yup...my MacBook Pro came back formatted, and everything was lost. Not to worry, said Christopher (owner), because he can retrieve the erased files for a mere $300. He came down on his price to $100 after I pointed out that I wouldn't have lost the files if he hadn't TALKED ME OUT OF BACKING IT UP in the first place. About 25% of my photos were non-recoverable.

Conveying the story to my computer-savvy friends, they strongly advised me to call Apple and relay the story to them. Upon calling I was quickly transferred to a supervisor, and while I hadn't even asked for anything, she offered me a generous Apple store voucher to make up for the shoddy service.

I soon noticed that my Mac wasn't running any cooler and that my phone still failed to connect, so I did what I should have done right off: I brought it to the Apple store. It turns out that my MacBook Pro is running hotter than it did in 2010 because of the new OS, and that it's completely fine. The issue about the iPhone not connecting was due to the misfortune of both my cables going bad at around the same time. To sum up: Nothing was wrong with my laptop to begin with.

Learn from my mistake and do not take your Apple product to this place...

This was a completely negative experience and I will not return or refer anyone to this location for service. I was referred to this location as a result from the Mac store in Tampa being currently closed. I traveled from Tampa off their referral and the man who is working this location was rude, wants no interaction with the customer and wouldn’t listen to issues that I was bringing it in for. He had no interest in explaining to me what was necessary and my options. Very rude, and completely unprofessional with a big zero in customer service. I will be calling Mac to report this store and my experience as an Apple owner. The guy working this location would be better off working behind a closed door with no personal interaction. After leaving my computer because of having no other options at that time, he told me he would transfer my documents to my other computer but didn’t give me time to go over the specs of my other computer. Since he purposely chose to not offer any help, he had to call me after I left to let me know their wasn’t enough storage and tied me to purchasing his external hard drive. I would have been happy to leave the one I already owned if he had just given me 5 minutes of adequate customer service. Therefore I ended up with an additional $89 to my cost. He is obviously terrified by Covid and if that is the case then he should stay at home and not put himself in a position where he has to work with the public. Along with his mask he wears gloves that I think are meant to be used for venomous snake handling. He won’t open the door and won’t get near your car or take the pen that you use to sign. I get it if he is scared but he needs to make a decision to get someone that can handle customer service during these times or just close until he feels more...

I brought in my older Macbook Air for repair. The computer was fully functional but the screen backlight didn't work. I asked if it might be the logic board. Chris told me, no, I needed a new screen. And the repair was $299.

And that diagnosis was free.

I agreed to have the screen replaced.

When I didn't hear from him for a week or so I called.

He told me on the phone the problem wasn't with the screen but the logic board and that was too expensive and not worth fixing,

I told him not to bother and that I might then consider using the Mac with an with external monitor as it was still fully functional.

He told me he would then have to charge me an hours labor to put to back together.

I've included a pic of how th laptop was returned to me

So he misdiagnosed the problem and then proceeded to take it apart., He didn't repair the laptop and then gave it back to me in pieces. It is now now completely useless. Just like him.

On top of that he is not friendly nor welcoming and, as others have pointed out, arrogant and dismissive.

REPLY TO MERCHANT'S SUBSEQUENT RESPONSE: Only after reading my negative review did Chris say he would reassemble the computer..... but what's he's conveniently left out was he also said he could not guarantee that it would still work as it did when I brought it to him.

And today he called me to ask why the review was still up. I told him " I don't like you. I don't like the way you do business. Don't call me again" Perhaps that is belligerent?

If he bothers me again I will contact the Apple store who recommended him and tell them about my experiences with him. Give...
