MY husband and I have enjoyed Super Buffet for years. Things have been tight so we haven't been out to dinner in a long time. So I decided let's meet after work at the restaurant for dinner so we can not have to do anything and can go home home after ad relax. But that did not end up being the case.
Went there last night. The oysters where washed and had a chemical taste and the oyster itself was black all around the edges. You can tell they had been washed they were very bleached looking.. Brought it to the waitress attention, that the oysters tasted bad and has a chemical taste. She stops and asked another gentleman if he like them and he said yes and she turned and looked at me like there was nothing wrong with them, he is eating them. She then brings me a single oyster from the back opened and asked me try this one its fresh. Same thing. I spit each one I tried out. The shells even had a bleach look to them. The oysters were flat. A good oyster is plump juicy and has a salt water taste to them. These did not. She acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. I am a senior who grew up around the gulf and ate alot more than my share of oysters, its a matter of fact, its my favorite seafood besides king crab. DONT EAT THE OYSTERS AT SUPER BUFFET OR ANTWHERE IF THEY DONT TASTE GOOD AND ARE FLAT THEY ARE DEAD AND DANGEROUS TO HUMANS IF CONSUMED. Bad oysters can make you very sick if not even kill you. After that I decided not to have oysters and just stick with the king crab, as I go to start cracking them open there is a long black hair on my plate right on top of my food. I am a blonde. I showed that as well. Nothing said no apppliges for any of this. So didn't eat anything else was to disgusted with entire dinner. They bring the bill and are charging me for my food!!! This is disregard to food safety and cleanliness and both were not present last night. They treated me like I was just a complainer. If this happen to you what would you have done? I told them I was not paying for food I could not eat that made me sick to my stomach. To even get worse.. When on my way home I could not get the bad taste of the bad oysters out of my mouth and when I got home had to run to the bathroom and vomited.

You deeply wounded a dear friend of mine by your actions. You know what you did was wrong. She paid her bill and left without taking the bones, but that was not enough for you. You really hurt an old handicapped woman because she wanted to give the bones she ate to her dog. You complained she did not eat enough meat on them. You are an all you can eat Buffet right? She paid her bill, did not take the bones but you still screamed and yelled at her publicly. its on video. I saw the picture she ate the meat just not the fat. They were loaded with fat. You terrified her, and treated her more like you were the Red Guard and she was a political dissident in China. I am praying for you that you appreciate this great country you live in, and treat the people in it with respect. You were really out of control and totally rude. She forgives you, and is praying for you too. She left the bones but your person behind the counter still chased her into the parking lot like she had not paid her bill and she did pay her bill. Read moreWe usually got takeout and it was extremely excellent value for the cost of food. Anyone complaining about food not being fresh, would only have to ask, and they will bring out a new fresh try of whatever you want within 5-10 min. I know because we did this many times when we were filling our take out boxes and they were always extremely responsive, kind, and gave excellent service and food.
Are they ever going to reopen? We have been waiting for months and we miss them so much. Some of the best value for the money in Sarasota. It's understandable that a buffet would be very difficult to sustain in these uncertain times, so I understand why they haven't reopened. I am just hoping they will consider doing a limited menu, having takeout only, or some other compromise that would allow them to reopen, as we miss them very much. Hopefully they will reopen soon!
Edit:. They have been back open since min-Dec and we have been probably 3-4x/week since then. They could definitely be a little bit more consistent, as we get the same things every time and occasionally there are dishes that have not been refreshed recently enough, but those really are few and far between, and if we ate in, or were willing to wait more than 5 or 6 minutes, all you have to do is ask kindly to refresh any of the dishes and there will be a brand new tray with hot, fresh item in 5-10 min. Overall, 5/5 and we will continue to visit several times per week, as for the value it is one of, if not the best Asian food restaurants in town. $30 fills about 4 trays which feeds all 4 adults in our household once, with 2-3 leftover meals as well. No place else can we get $5 meals with that level of quality. So glad they are...
