I wish I could give negative stars. Ive been in pain for months from what I initially believed was a back injury. So much so that 600mg of Ibuprofen every 3-4hrs made it barely tolerable. I was convinced to try a chiropractor first, so I did. After 7 visits and no lasting relief, I got my fiance to set me up an appt with her doc(Turner) as a new patient as soon as possible. The appt would be 2 weeks away(today). I made it through a week with the pain averaging around the level I'd grown accustomed to. Then, last friday I was in enough pain that I nearly went to the ER. I took an old Percocet of my fiances, and decided to wait until Sunday, my only day off work. I would decide then if it was an emergency or if it could wait until I was to see my new Primary Care Doc this morning, 10/10. Sunday came and I decided I could tough it out. During this 2 week period I had also been taking tramadol(prescribed for a dog) sporadically when NSAIDS werent cutting it or when I would get concerned about the amount of NSAIDS I was consuming. I'd also been taking adderall every morning to help push through the day. No part of me thought this was ideal....thats why I made an appointment with a doctor. Fast forward to this morning, my appointment. I scheduled today off from work so I would be available to do anything the Doc needed. I fasted since dinner last night so they could do bloodwork. I printed the forms from the website(which are wrong, btw. dont waste your time) and had them partially filled out before I got there. I printed copies of my last 2 physical exams, an ER visit 2yrs ago, a sleep study I had 2yrs ago for apnea, and a drug abuse risk assessment I went through 2yrs ago. I got there at 9 for a 9:30 appointment. The woman in the window was very nice. The next woman called me back to a little triage area to question me about the 3 prescription drugs and who prescribed them to me. I was honest...I told her I didnt have a prescription, I got them from others I knew who had prescriptions. When she didnt seem to understand what I was telling her, I just simplified it to "black market". She left the room and in around 10 sec she came back and said they wouldnt see me because I was on drugs from a naughty list without a prescription. She also said that they dont prescribe those medications. It didnt make much sense to me in the moment, but I now realize that she was operating under the assumption that I was there to get more of some/all of the 3 prescription drugs Id used recently. Regardless, I had to ask for my copies back of all the medical history paperwork I brought for them to copy. I asked if I didnt have those drugs in my system, when could I come back, and was told that they wouldnt see me. I asked what I should do, as Im at the end of my rope with this leg pain. She said she isnt a Doctor so she cant give me medical advice. I was then shown the door. I saw 2 employees while I was there. A receptionist and a nurse-type. The receptionist was wonderful, no complaints with her. The nurse, or whatever her official job is, was ok in my book as well. She just had the unfortunate task of being the middleman. I understand the position. The PA and/or doctor never bothered to investigate the situation as though an actual human being was out there in need of help. I wasnt in an ER begging for a fix. I was in an appointment that had been set up 2 weeks prior. I was completely honest about everything in my blood. I felt the doctor needed to know what I was on in case of potential drug interactions with anything they put me on. I left Southcoast because of much less severe sense of being nothing more than a name on a clipboard. "FIRST, DO NO HARM" Good job. My fiance and mother both use this doctor. I cant stop them if they choose to support this type of behavior. I can, however, make sure that from now on whenever I get an opportunity to steer someone far away from this practice, I will go out of my way to do so. This is the worst Ive been treated by any medical...

I was a long-time patient of Dr. Turner and always appreciated her professionalism and quality of care. She is attentive, knowledgeable, and made my visits feel valued and personal.
That said, I had recurring difficulties with the business and billing side of the practice that became increasingly frustrating over time. Despite years of visits, the billing team consistently struggled with filing claims correctly through my insurance provider, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia. Given that BCBS is widely used, it was surprising to see repeated issues with coding and claim submissions. Each visit often required follow-up calls from me to both the office and the insurance company to get things resolved properly.
When I relocated out of state and reached out via the Healo app to request a medical records transfer, I unfortunately did not receive a response. Instead, my access to the app was removed, which left me with no clear way to follow up or finalize the request. This felt like a missed opportunity for a smoother transition of care.
Lastly, I’m currently trying to settle a remaining balance from a past visit—likely due to another insurance coding issue—but the office does not offer any online bill pay option. Mailing a check is the only method provided, which feels outdated and inconvenient, especially for former patients who no longer live nearby.
I share this feedback not to be negative, but in hopes that the administrative side of the practice can be strengthened to match the excellent clinical care provided. Patients deserve not only great medical attention, but also a smooth, professional experience from...
Read moreWhen I first started coming here I was happy. I enjoyed seeing Dr. Turner because I could tell she truly cared and has a lot of knowledge and experience.
As the years have gone by I've become less and less enchanted. Literally every time I come to see Dr. Turner I have to wait for an obscene amount of time. It isn't just sometimes. It's. Every. Time.
Once, I felt so sick and got so tired of waiting I informed office staff that I was leaving and going to urgent care. I got to urgent care and was seen well before I would have actually been seen by Dr. Turner.
When I make an appointment with the nurse practitioner I never have this problem. I'm always seen promptly.
It seems that Dr. Turner has no regard for her patients' time or other important things they have to do during the day. When I have an appointment with her I make sure I free up at least 2-3 hours after my appointment because the sad truth is that I'm not sure I will be done at her office in time to reliably get to my next task of the day.
By the time Dr. Turner finally gets to me I'm so annoyed by how long I've had to wait that I don't even want to talk to her anymore.
So I guess if you don't have anything else to do with your day and you want a doctor that loves having long conversations that have nothing to do with your visit, then Dr. Turner's office is the place for you.
By the way, I typed this as I waited for her to come into my room. I got here 20 minutes before my appointment, was promptly seen by office staff for intake, and then waited longer than an...
