Really like the location being centrally located in the valley and close to everything, and the property being gated. The front office was responsive to any issues or questions we had from annoying neighbors to billing questions both in person and via email. They do enforce the parking and dont shy away from towing. It's mostly quiet even though it seems to be a younger demographic like college aged and 25-35 age range, and really if there was an issue with a neighbor being too loud (or their friends) or whatever, theyd shut it down if you asked. Typical apt living. The property is always clean and the maintenance guys were really nice and responsive. It is a little more expensive but not that unexpected given being in south scottsdale, the amenities, and the sizes - our one bedroom is over 1,000 sf which for us is about $1.00 per square foot/month with laundry in unit in its own room and really big bathroom with a big garden tub, walk in closet, and lots of storage, like one wall nothing but cabinets outside the laundry room. Finding laundry in a unit can be hard to come by and i was over doing stairs with a laundry basket and walking to a room to have to wait for availability and put money on a card etc. A lot of the apartments have been updated/upgraded and nice. We have two cats also included in that rental rate, which finding a location that allows more than one pet and the same type of pet can be hard or not allowed, which was also a deciding factor to come here. We looked at houses and other properties, but landlords wouldnt allow 2 cats, and sorry id be homeless before id move somewhere we couldnt have our fur babies. When we were moving in we were asking about like a policy for say hanging paintings and repairs to the wall and the managers words were "youre home now, put em up! Unless theres major damage, dont worry about it". Really the only thing that kept it from being a five star review was when we renewed, the rate did jump up $150 per month. But then again the cost of moving out, moving in to another place, deposits plus rent and losing some of the comforts here and really liking it we chose to stay. And really the market rate for apts is increasing...
Read moreLiving at MAA Camelback has been one of the worst experiences I’ve had with an apartment community, and most of it comes down to extremely poor management by Dawn and Natasha.
Not even halfway through my lease, my ceiling in the living room collapsed due to water damage. The “repair” they did the first time was done so poorly that it nearly fell through again a second time. Instead of taking accountability and ensuring my unit was safe, I had to escalate the issue to higher management just to get any action taken. Only then was I forced to move units in the middle of my lease — an unnecessary disruption that was entirely the result of their negligence.
To make matters worse, when I was simply trying to resign my lease, they refused to allow it because of the history of problems (that they themselves caused). On top of that, management inexplicably ran a hard credit inquiry on me mid-lease — which made absolutely no sense, especially given that all of these issues stemmed from their own failure to maintain the property properly.
For the amount of rent charged here, you should expect professional, competent, and responsive management. Instead, what you’ll find is a lack of accountability, dismissiveness, and decisions that negatively impact residents rather than support them.
If you’re considering living here, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. MAA Camelback under Dawn and Natasha’s management is poorly run, unprofessional, and will likely cost you time, stress, and even damage to your credit — all for problems that are entirely out of...
Read moreIf you're looking to move into a sweet apartment in a great area, MAA Camelback should be at the top of your list of places to check out. I’ve lived here for almost 6 months, and I love it here. It’s a friendly, well-maintained community that I recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to call home. Please do yourself a favor and schedule a tour with Natasha, Dawn, or Jennifer at the front office—you’ll be just as excited as I was to move in!
The apartments are nice, and the grounds are always kept in great shape. If you ever need assistance, you'll be helped quickly by some incredibly kind gentlemen, Akili and Leo. There’s also a 24-hour help line, which I’ve had to use after midnight, and the prompt support was a huge relief during a stressful situation.
The location is prime! You’re right near scenic canals for walking, running, or biking, and close to shops, restaurants in Old Town Scottsdale, and grocery stores. It’s a super convenient spot. One big selling point for me is that the complex is gated, and guests can call your phone from the entrance so you can let them in.
If you're wondering what the noise is like here, it’s not bad. The apartments do a good job of blocking out most outside sounds. Sure, the occasional loud noise happens—but overall, the tenants are respectful, and it’s a peaceful place to live.
There’s more I could say about MAA Camelback, but I don’t feel like writing much more (though I will add - they plan food-related events for tenants every month! Score!!). Please just take my word for it and come...
