Was falsely accused of shoplifting and I am still very upset about how my teenage daughter and I were singled out for no reason.
We visited Kohls in Seal Beach today at approximately 7:30pm. Upon entering we decided to head up to the second floor to use the restroom prior to looking around their store. Upon heading to the restroom we walked by customer service as an employee walking out of their breakroom followed us into the restroom and confronted us about shoplifting. We were already in the stall and the employee by the name of “Ginger” was yelling accusing us about the merchandise the customer service rep said we had taken. She startled us as she stormed in yelling. We exited the stall and advised the employee, we had no shopping bags or any merchandise with us. She then looked at us from head to toe to see if we had anything. All we had were our small crossbody bags not big enough to possibly fit anything and my daughter’s sweater. She realized we had nothing with us then started yelling from inside the restroom to the employee by the name of “Heather” in customer service working at the front desk saying they don’t have anything, they don’t have anything, it’s just her sweater. Before we could say anything else she ran out of the restroom. This is extremely embarrassing as all other customers in and out of the restroom could hear these employees yelling.
After exiting the restroom we headed downstairs to ask to speak to management. The manager on the floor “Carlos” asked what the situation was and what employees were involved. We explained what had happened with Ginger and Heather and he asked to give him a few minutes. About five minutes later he came back down with another manager named “Hayden” who proceeded to ask again what the situation was. We explained once again what happened and what employees were involved. He explained that the employees did not follow protocol and should not have approached us let alone followed us into the restroom.
I advised him in all of my years in working retail employees are typically trained to reach out to management or loss prevention if they suspect anyone of shoplifting but to be followed into the restroom was completely uncalled for. These employees were definitely outside of their job description to act like that. This store needs to do better, employees should be trained on how to appropriately address this issue in the future and not follow people into the restroom.
After expressing how we were treated unfairly and this triggering my daughter’s anxiety we still left with no resolution. All the manager stated was that “Colleen” the main manager was not working and loss prevention was also not scheduled. After asking if these employees would be talked to for their behavior he just nodded and said he was sorry and that we could follow up with “Colleen” tomorrow.
This is the worst customer experience I’ve ever had at a retail store and this type of behavior is extremely disappointing especially considering that I am a long time customer. I won’t ever feel comfortable visiting this location again without the fear of being...
Read moreThis is review is for the Amazon Returns counter. If you care anything about your personal privacy, I would not take your amazon returns here. Why does the kid working the counter have to SAY OUT LOUD TO EVERYONE what we are returning?? This is such an invasion of privacy. Before he started my return, I whispered to him and politely asked if he could not say out loud what I am returning because I would have been mortified had he announced it out loud for the LONG LINE to hear (and yes, you can hear a pin drop in this section of the store). He got defensive and said "I personally don't care what you are returning." I had to say in a very quiet manner that "I am sure he doesn't care but I CARE that everyone in line will know what I am returning." The line is always long, people are on top of one another waiting, and we can hear what everyone is returning because the kid announces it out loud. Example: Before I got to the counter I heard what each person was returning: the couple in front of me returned security cameras. The guy before them returned a hidden camera detector. The person before that returned a keyboard. The woman before that returned a bralette and underwear (she turned red and I could feel her embarrassment), etc.. The Amazon return counters at Amazon Fresh does not say out loud what we are returning, why does the kid at Kohl's feel a need to? Do not return your items here if you care about keeping your business...
Read moreI went to Seal Beach Kohl's today around 12n to use my 30% off coupon with my Kohl's cash of $20 and another $5. The cashier said that I can not stack the coupon and the Kohl's cash. I told her I do that all the time online she argued that is not possible. Then she called the supervisor/lead to the cash register and the supervisor told me the same thing. I told them that I will not buy the stuff from the store then I will do it online. I came home and bought the same products and was able to do my 30% coupon, $5 Kohls cash and another $20 Kohl's cash also received a free shipping. It's too bad that Seal Beach Kohl's does not train their employees correct. I heard the supervisor/lead and the lady at the cash register talking behind me saying behind me. They were saying you go home and do that with a laugh. I thought that was very rude and unprofessional. I wish I got their names but I did not. I know the floor supervisor have been there for a long time. She is about 5ft tall with dark straight hair. She needs to learn what customer service is. She should not be at that position. I guess I will be going to Huntington Beach Kohl's from now on since they are way nicer...
