There's a Beauty Called Seattle's Sunrise and Sunset (Part 1): The City Edition

I am visiting from San Diego where I have a boat. I will either be moving my boat or buying a different one, in Seattle, and looking for a marina. Customer service is perhaps one of the most important things to me in making my decision. I parked in the guest parking down on the end so as to not take up tenant parking spots. I have an $80,000 vehicle so I prefer to park away from other vehicles as it is. I was immediately approached by an employee in a golf cart who told me I could not park there because they were closing. So I went back the following day, though I was away from my vehicle for a few hours. The moment I returned to my vehicle I was harassed by the same employee. I told him I wanted to find out about the marina to potentially move my boat there. He said I would not be able to get my boat in due to a 3 month waiting list. I then asked if I would be "allowed" to park there if I became a tenant. He said IF I become a tenant (which would be impossible due to waiting list) I would get 2 parking passes. He said I could not live on my boat (which I would not be doing as I live in San Diego so I'm not sure why he said that) and I could not go there to "sleep during the day" (another weird thing to say). He then admitted to not even owning a boat on the marina but that he basically knew everything about the marina because he was an employee. The whole exchange was really bizarre, he repeated himself a lot (like a broken record) even when I called him out on repeating himself. He threatened to call the police on me if I didn't move my vehicle, and said someone had already complained about me. I did move out of courtesy, twice, but I am only going to be in Seattle about another week, so I need to find a time when this individual is not working to go back to the marina and actually talk to an employee there that has a clue about the marina, not a rent-a-cop on a power trip (makes $10/hr?). I am guessing he just works at night as both times he approached me was about 8-9pm. If I go back to your marina within the next few weeks, I ask that I not be harassed again. I am very serious about this, and your employee's lack of customer service and attempts to drive me away is completely unacceptable, especially as a tourist in this town. I should be made to feel welcome, especially if I want to be there.

Had dinner at the Palisades. The view is PHENOMENAL. The calamari is to die for and highly recommend however, the steak I had was lacking. It may be because I'm from Texas and I was expecting a tasty seasoned Texas steak which I did not get. I was also hoping for more in the way of service. When the check comes, there is an extra % added for a low wage percentage fee. Light bulb - no wonder the service isn't on par, part of the tip is included. How much of this is funneled back to the wait staff I do not know. This was the ONLY restaurant in Seattle that charged this "fee". This is a great place to drink and enjoy the view.

The best private marina in Seattle!

Run like a clock and always maintained, EBM is a great starting point to go to South Sound destinations like Gig Harbor or headed North to Edmonds or West to Poulsbo or 30 other close by ports.

Kingston is just a 45 minute cruise away at 17 knots where you can get transient moorage and play White Horse Golf Course.

EBM offers free showers as well as free basic cable service if you moor your boat here.

They have a great store at the fuel dock which sells gas and diesel fuel.

Several vendors have offices at the marina as well for repairs and upgrades as well as for insurance services.

Finally, two restaurants: Maggie Bluffs for a pub sports bar feel as well as a suburb patio with a killer view of downtown Seattle and the marina. Upstairs is the restaurant Palisades that has a great happy hour menu and a cool bar. (bartenders have to duck through an opening in the bar back wall. the opening is about 4 feet high!) The restaurant regularly gets 4 to 5 star reviews.

Parking is more than ample for both tenants and visitors.

EBM also hosts the downtown sailing series on Thursday evenings during the Summer months. The after party is always fun with free food and wine from...

We stayed at Elliott Bay Marina for three nights in early February during a significant cold snap where marinas throughout the Puget Sound had water turned off. We were traveling with a small group from Tacoma Yacht Club and the staff at Elliott Bay Marina went above and beyond to turn the water on until 3 PM on the day of arrival so that we could fill up our boats, many of which were empty due to the risk of freeze during the cold snap. Not only that, but on departure day they pumped out our holding tank with their mobile pump out vessel since the main pump out and those around the area were closed due to freezing weather. The facility is first class in every way, and the views are spectacular. Highly recommend supporting this marina on a...
