Like its high-end upstairs cousin, Palisade, Maggie's hasn't changed much over the years. It remains a simple, American-style eatery that's defined by its marina-side location on Seattle's Elliott Bay. Think of it like a local, nautical-theme Red Robin that's frequented by locals who harbor their boat in the marina and/or live in the nearby Magnolia neighborhood. While the indoor venue is comfortable, most people come here to here sit outside when the weather is nice. Maggie's has umbrellas and heater depending on the weather and wool blankets for those who are cold.
The focal point for Maggie's is the bar which is simple but well stocked. I tend to find their mixed drinks to be weak and usually order beer or wine as a result. The menu has also been reduced significantly over the years. Gone are the options for grilled seafood and buckets of clams. The menu is now solely bar fare and is very basically prepared and presented with a mix of seafood options alongside burgers, sandwiches, salads, and fried foods. There is nothing elaborate or amazing on the menu, but then this isnât why people come here. This is a beautiful location to spend some time and feel like you're on holiday. To enjoy a drink on a sunny day surrounded by boats and views of Seattle and Elliott Bay. Bring friends, a special someone, or a book and just hang out. The vibe is usually...
Read moreI have been going to Maggie Bluffs for 5 years now as there is no better patio to eat at on a warm sunny Seattle day. This trip however was very disappointing. My wife's fish tacos contained very little fish at all and we were seated at a table with no place settings and had to ask the waitress for napkins and silverware after our food arrived. Then the gentleman bussing the table next to us dropped a bowl of salsa and it splattered me. I had salsa on my face, hat and covered my shirt. They brought me some soda water and paper napkins. It was bad enough that I ended up removing my shirt and finishing my meal in my white undershirt. Now I understand accidents happen and I just went with the flow and finished my meal, but honestly I expected at a minimum an apology. They could have offered me a free beer or dessert but no by the time we finished our food the waitress had forgotten about the incident and simply brought us the check and went about her business like nothing ever happened. It seems like things continue to go down hill at Maggie Bluffs, last year not only did they remove our favorite menus items but we found a hair in our food. I Honestly hope they turn things around as the location...
Read moreThis is not the same place that it used to be. The wife and I used to love this secret spot, but after our last visit that makes two bad experiences in a row. I try not to give bad reviews of restaurants, but this was so bad I had to mention it. We got their pretty close to opening to have breakfast. Our server was rude and didnât seem to care about trying. I spent a great deal of my life as a cook, waiter, bartender and manager. I usually give people a break and still tip good cause I know people have bad days. The food took forever to come out when there was only like 4 tables in the whole place and we order eggs and hash browns?! The food was cold, but I was so hungry we ate it anyways. Here comes the bad part, my wife and I both got food poisoning and it hit hard. At one point when I was going to wash my hands before eating, it looked like the manager and staff were having a fight. Weird atmosphere overall. Place used to be so sweet and the food/service was awesome. I know staff shortages are rampant right now, but there was more people working than customers when we were there.
Thatâs it. We wonât be going back, place has...
