A thickly forested steep trail filled with the groves of evergreens and ferns that I so associate with Washington State slopes down to a long stretch of Green lawn that leads to Lake washington, with Bellevue's skyline across the sea. As Bellevue continues to grow and its buildings climb toward the sky, this view becomes more impressive, but the glassy softly rippling water of Lake Washington is always delightful. When I came here, soft raindrops from the typical Seattle drizzle were splashing into the lake and creating these soft circular ripples. There is a great mossy tree with heavy arcing boughs under which I took shelter and watched the pattering rain. Read moreBeautiful view there. Nice place to swim or kayak. You can BBQ and sit back. It does get crowded when the weather is nice. So you have to arrive early to pick out your spot if your decision to BBQ. There are some shop and a small grocery market near by just in case your forgot something for your BBQ or you decide to get something to eat. There is also Starbucks too. The only issue there is no public restrooms as they advertise, they closed it down. And they didn't put any honeybucket. Just note that Starbucks also does not allow public to use their restrooms. Read moreThis is a great park for all ages. There is a bbq pavilion that you can reserve, lots of picnic tables and small bbq grills available. There is a load in area, bathrooms and area to launch personal flotation equipment. Lots of lawn area on a moderate slope facing the lake. This is an excellent place for swimming for all ability levels with a variety of places to enter the water without dealing with slimy rocks and milfoil weeds.
