Very nice park located in the heart of Wallingford at 42nd NE and Wallingford Ave N. Play area has a nice collection of climbing equipment and slides for kids in the 4 to 8 age group. The play equipment is tucked in the corner of the play area with a public restroom nearby that was closed. Maybe closed for the winter, don't know. There is one tennis court and a large open area for dogs or frisbee or flying planes like my grandkids. There are a few benches for resting or eating snacks. If you are on Wallingford Ave, there is a view of Lake Union and downtown but once you are on the playfield , there's just the neighborhood houses. This is a nice play area but small compared to Jefferson or Montlake.

Unfortunately the playground and playfield/ballfield are closed for the remainder of the year, with the playground structure set to reopen in early 2019.
The structure of the playground was infested with insects that rendered the wood structures unsafe. While it looks like the swings would have been unaffected, the city opted to close the entire playground.
The ball fields are not entirely fenced in but there are huge signs discouraging use. As the grass does look completely worn out, it's unfortunate that families still used the fields even as new grass was being attempted. Given the still-heavy use with the young shoots and the winter rains, I expect the effort to fail and mud to...
Read moreI grew up attending the middle school on the same block (Hamilton international middle school) and adore this playground. They switched from the old school wood timber and metal play structure of my childhood (and this was one of the biggest ones i knew of in Seattle!) due to pest infestation, to the current all metal one. It is still one of the bigger playground installations i know of, ranking up their (in my knowledge) with the city park & playground connected to Nathan Hale High School. I love, my kiddo loves it, and we continue to come back here...
