I was expecting better considering the reviews. I got the kofta kebab with rice (based on the owner’s recommendation) and baba ganoush. The portion was large, yes, but mostly rice.
I don’t usually order kofta kebabs, so I can’t say how this one ranks compared to kofta in general, but I wish I had ordered something else. My favorite is gyro, but I didn’t see a rotisserie and there were mixed reviews on the gyro specifically, so I didn’t want to risk getting something that wasn’t made in-house. So perhaps a shawarma.
It is also much more expensive than what the menu photos here show. They must have increased their prices recently. The kofta kebab with rice + and appetizer was over $20, and the shawarma + 2 appetizers was higher.
Maybe this place is good for Seattle, I don’t know, but it certainly doesn’t rank very high in my experience of...
Read moreBest middle eastern food I've had in Seattle so far. Other places are always too salty, not fresh, tough meat, etc. I've had a lamb shawarma wrap (takeout) and platter of lamb shawarma which came w/ 2 appetizers: Greek salad + hummus + 1 pita (dine-in). Both meals were 10/10 super delicious and very filling. Well the platter was basically 2 meals for me.. I especially loved the deep taste + texture of the meat in the shawarma. The chef(s)? make it after u order, so nothing is precooked and it tastes rlly fresh (hence the worthwhile 15+ min wait). They season the food perfectly - not too salty or bland, & with lots of spices!! The pita, Greek salad, and hummus were all super yummy too. Also the chef gave me some white garlic sauce to eat w/ my platter. idk if that was complimentary / for free but it was nice =). Def support...
Read moreI've called Seattle home for nearly three decades, and I just had to share my love for Almanqal Mediterranean restaurant and its talented chef, Haqi.
In a nutshell, this place is extraordinary. After trying lamb, beef, and chicken dishes all around town, I can confidently say that Almanqal is in a league of its own. The flavors are simply incredible, and the meats are exceptionally tender. If you're a fan of lamb, beef, or chicken, you absolutely must pay them a visit.
Their lentil soup is a warm hug in a bowl, and the Lamb Shank is a culinary masterpiece that practically melts in your mouth.
Almanqal is now my go-to spot for forever. If you're in search of a fantastic Mediterranean meal, look no further. This place is a hidden Seattle treasure that you need to experience....
