I was displaced from my apartment for 7 months. In my time here, I got to know this community from the long term residents to the staff. I am so incredibly impressed by this little team. Emily, Trey, and Iris at the front desk made me feel welcomed. They were always available to answer questions and they never made me feel like I was inconveniencing them, even when I locked myself out of my room for the millionth time. I saw them handling unreasonable and irate customers with grace and calm, I saw them bending over backwards to help accommodate folks, and I saw them working double shifts when things were tight. They. Are. Awesome.
The kitchen/food staff were equally as amazing. I met Mayra during the social hour, and she is the nicest, kindest person you will ever meet. She’s accommodating, she is a great listener, and it’s so great talking with her and getting to know the people around the bar. She really went above in beyond—even clearing my food plates and refilling my drink before I asked. Oftentimes she was serving drinks, clearing plates, and making sure the food was refreshed. One of the hardest workers I have ever seen. Mario and Alexis both made breakfast and social hour run sooooo smoothly. They were both on top of making sure everything was topped off and fresh for the residents, and I have absolutely no complaints. In fact, they too were always so kind, accommodating, and went above and beyond to make guests feel helped.
Lastly, the housekeeping and maintenance staff. I wish I could have learned every name, but I have to shout out Manuel and Francisco. Since I was living there, I did my own thing and rarely had a housekeeper in my room. But this meant I had random requests at really random times and Manuel was there: bringing me new sheets at 10pm, emptying my trash bins after dinner, and grabbing old linens from my door at all times when I was randomly cleaning. Manuel worked with a smile and “no problem” and I was always happy to see him. He always greeted me whenever he saw me, and made me feel welcome.
Francisco is the master of keeping everything clean and running—from the plants, to the outdoor trash, to making sure the grills and outdoor furniture were in good order. In sometimes saw Francisco working ALL day, super shifts. Even with sweat glistening on his brow he would ask me how my day was and say hi.
Oftentimes people see these employees for a short amount of time and don’t get to see the efforts and every day mundanity and craziness they have to deal with. I’ve had the pleasure of working with and observing this amazing staff everyday, and I was so happy and comfortable in my new temporary home. Thank you to all the staybridge staff, named and unnamed that made our 7 month displacement smooth, easy, and welcoming. I will remember this time with fondness...
Read moreI booked this hotel because my two day class was located at this hotel. The staff were nice but they do not give you any information. You want information you have to ask because they will not give it to you. When checking in, I was greeted by a very nice person. They ask for my name, ID, and credit card. They handed me my ID and credit part and then my hotel key. That is all the information I got. Most hotels when you check in you have to sign paper work, they give you information on where and when breakfast is, how to get into the garage and where it is located, what your room number is and when check out is. You will not get that here. My room was a nice size but it was super dust and the couch had a huge rip in it. The comforter had stains on it and the bed had hair in it. But there was a note saying my room was "cleaned" not really sure why that was there since it was not clean. Breakfast was part of the price of my room. It was available starting at 7:30, I would get there around 8:15 and it was almost all gone and it was cold. Not sure if they are not use to actually having people eat there breakfast or they were short handled but I was really looking forward to breakfast and it was a huge let down. I needed to check out before my class and that took me two tries because trying to get someone at the front desk was impossible. I finally got someone and I "checked out". All she did was through my keys into a basket that said dirty keys. I never was asked how my stay was or if I wanted a printed or emailed receipt for my stay. She through my keys in the basket and walked away. I looked at my credit card statement and that is how I found out they do not honor Expedia pricing. I went to ask the front desk about this and again it took multiple tries because trying to get someone at the front desk is a joke. She told me that if I wanted the discount price then I should have paid through Expedia. I told her I have never needed to do that at another hotel and he response was well it looks like you should have for us. I have asked other people I know if they had the same problem with a hotel not honoring Expedia pricing and they all said not. So I informed them that if they ever stay here or another Staybridge that they will not honor it and make you feel like you should have know better. Not impressed at all with this hotel and will not...
Read more(There are updates at end of review.) If you are not sensitive to noise, skip this review. We have lived in Fremont for many years and now are back to visit. We choose this hotel for its location knowing that it could be noisy on Aurora but hoping for room in the back. We said this when making reservations and when checking in.
They put us in a "Quiet Zone" of the hotel facing out on Aurora. Well, this is a bit of contradiction because Aurora is very noisy and 1/2 of the hotel is not more than 20 ft from the busy three lane state route.
Even the heating system (in a locked closet) in our bedroom that sounded like a 747 (another Quiet Zone feature?) wasn't enough to mask the vehicles gunning it up Aurora non-stop, 24-hours a day.
We asked to change to a room in the back after our first night, and were told yes, fortunately there was a room. We were relieved. So we packed up and stored our luggage at the front desk - as told - full of hope. Unfortunately, when we came back later in the evening to find they were sold out and we in fact were in the same room. Complete delusion for us and just bad management of the front desk. Promised one thing but not received another.
Yes, we had another night in room from hell on Aurora. You will need serious noise canceling headphones, not the complimentary orange foam plugs you can get at the front desk.
Really disappointing experience. Plus, a bit of burn is that it cost 330 USD a night for the pleasure of sleeping on a busy thoroughfare.
Room: adequate. Cleanliness: good. Noise: awful for 1/2 the hotel. Customer management: needs work in listening. Would give more stars if they had only moved us.
In the attached photo, 233 is Aurora side. All floors have similar numbering (I think).
Addendum 1: Upon checking out, we did get some acknowledgement of our situation and that was appreciated!
Addendum 2: Upon recheck-in a few days later (we left and returned to Seattle), they apologized again and comped us the parking. I appreciate them recognizing the issue and trying to address it. And yes, second time back side of the hotel was perfect. So, adding stars back to original rating. The location (apart from being on Aurora) is within walking distance of Fremont and Wallingford with lots of interesting neighborhood restaurants. We ate, for example, at Komenegi, a few steps from the hotel and...
