I feel extremely fortunate to have worked with Wendy and Wend Designs. I have always wanted a gemstone ring, specifically a peridot, but never found one that felt like me. They were often too large, too feminine, too over the top. I have a few statement rings for special occasions, but I tend to wear the same rings day in and day out, which adds another level within the decision of choosing the perfect ring. Wend was able to address all these concerns, above and beyond. It is truly a special experience designing a ring from scratch with Wendy. She saw my aesthetic, and the jewelry I wore, so all her suggestions were already curated for me. She helped me choose the size and suggested the setting, knowing I wanted something that was neutral for an everyday ring, but still popped. It is everything I wanted, I absolutely love this ring. Wendy was also so kind when I reached out in a panic thinking I was damaging the ring with the chemicals I use at work and how often I wash my hands. Turns out it just needed a good cleaning from how much lotion I use to combat the assault my hands take!
Wendy really takes you through this journey and is there for you whenever you need advice. Also, the shop aesthetic cannot go unmentioned... It is a DREAM, she really put her own touches on this otherwise basic space. Even the adornments on the outside windows flow with her space. Wendy is such a lovely woman, who really cares about giving her clients the best experience, and it shows in her attention to detail in both her craft and the space. Everyone there is so open and kind, I love popping in with my pup to peruse her new designs, or the newest local artist she has on display. It is such a special shop, with an amazing group of women...
Read moreMy wife and I have known Wendy nearly two decades. A dozen or so years ago, my wife asked her to make a new ring for me for our 5th anniversary. I was having terrible skin rashes from the nickel in the white gold. Wendy made a gorgeous ring that incorporated both our birthstones and the stone for our anniversary. It was completely safe for me to wear, and designed for my odd lifestyle--which might find me jackhammering concrete in the morning and filleting salmon in the evening. The original inscription is clear and unfaded, 12+ years later.
Eventually we decided my wife also needed a replacement ring for her generic wedding set. We also wanted to change a stone in my ring, from our anniversary to our child's stone.
Wendy was her always amazing, caring, and careful listening self through the whole process. She not only cast me a new ring entirely (so I could keep the older one), she used the extra tiny diamonds from my wife's rings to make a pendant for our daughter. She took our ideas for my wife's ring and cast them into a true family heirloom. Both our rings fit perfectly, even though we had to sadly do all of this at 1000 miles distance.
Each piece Wendy creates is unique and crafted with the person in mind; a skill she has fully mastered. I've been admiring her work on my hand a long time, and look forward to seeing it and my wife's for many...
Read moreWendy is a joy to work with and just generally an amazing human! Her space at WEND is so beautiful and welcoming and reflects her nature-inspired pieces that she designs herself. More importantly, she ethically sources all her materials. And I love that she also specializes in remaking heirloom rings.
When I got married 12 years ago, I chose to get a simple band that didn't cost much because there was so much else going on and let's be honest - planning a wedding is overwhelming. I told my husband that we could get a nicer ring later. Fast forward a few years, when I moved to Seattle and met Wendy. At that time, she was designing custom wedding rings by word of mouth, and I knew she was the right person to make my wedding band. Fast forward another 10 years (I'm a procrastinator), and now she has WEND and I knew it was time. Wendy helped me design a personalized version of her Roots Collection that incorporates a very unique center stone (a rustic Montana sapphire.) The ring and the stone fit my lifestyle and personality perfectly and have so much meaning to me. I also included the birthstones of my kids and husband, which makes it so special. Not only is it a wedding band, but it serves as a family ring as well. I'm already dreaming of working with her again to redesign a ring from my mom that I love...
