Yankee Quilter LLC — Attraction in Seymour

This is a review that focuses on the family that owns this business - their kindness is extraordinary. I bought one of my 2 Viking sewing machines from them many years ago when they were in Southbury. When they moved to Seymour they were very far from me to do business with. I took my machine to them because they are now the only Viking repair shop in Western CT, and they apologetically said it would be a 5-6 week wait. They are so backed up due to Covid. I reluctantly left it - and the next day had second thoughts and decided to pick it up and take it somewhere with a faster turn-around. I am in the middle of a time sensitive quilting project for my daughter’s wedding and my other machine just couldn’t handle it. When I arrived I explained my situation and the owner and asked for the machine back. She immediately and happily got the repairman who happened to be there and asked him if he wouldn’t take look to see it it was a simple problem he could easily solve. Well, it wasn’t simple, yet he was persistent and after nearly an hour he figured it out - and with a smile! He taught me a lot about my machine in the process. At first he didn’t want to charge me, and after I insisted he then said $30 for a 1/2 hour of his time. This kind of service and customer care is very rare these days. Yes, the shop is lovely and well stocked. So are lots of quilt shops. But the people behind the counter are what make this a shop I will go well out of my way to do business with...

Awesome little quilting shop! I actually live in PA and ran out of a fabric I needed to finish my son's quilt. Unfortunately it was discontinued, but I was able to find some online at this shop, along with a few other fabrics that coordinated nicely. Everyone was super helpful in making sure I got the fabrics I needed and had them shipped out to me the next day. Communication via emails and phone calls was amazing. Nancy was so helpful, professional and knowledgeable. She greeted me when I walked in. There are many beautiful fabrics in a great variety here, all high quality. I was pleased to see so many wide backs! I purchased fabric from my absolute favorite artist, Sue Penn, which made me extremely happy!!
