Poor Experience with Stop & Shop’s Curbside Pickup Service
I’ve used the curbside pickup service at the Seymour Stop & Shop 5-6 times since the Ansonia location closed, and it’s been a frustrating experience. Initially, when an employee from the Ansonia store was there, everything went smoothly. But after she left, things went downhill quickly.
On one occasion, I was given the wrong order and had to drive back to the store to fix it. Another time, I waited over 30 minutes for my order while watching 9 other cars, which arrived after me, get their orders and leave. I don’t mind waiting if they’re busy, but this felt like poor organization and service.
The most frustrating experience was just the other night. They called to push my order back to a later time, which was fine. I arrived at 7:10 PM (within the 7-8 PM window they gave me) and called to let them know I was there. The first time, they picked up, told me to hold on, and then hung up after a couple of minutes. When I called again, they put me on hold for over 8 minutes. I decided to go inside, stood by the service desk, and no one even acknowledged me. I eventually found the employee handling curbside orders and got my groceries, but my order was missing items. I had to tell her about the missing ham, which was supposed to be replaced but wasn’t, and at that point, I was so frustrated I had them take back other items from my order.
This is a service we’re paying for—it’s not free. I prefer using it because when I go inside the store, I tend to spend more than I planned. However, I don’t appreciate being treated like my time isn’t valuable. I’m not lazy; I actually enjoy walking around stores to shop. But if I’m using curbside pickup for convenience, I expect the service to be efficient and accurate. Sadly, that hasn’t been the...
Read moreWe recently moved to Seymour, CT from North Carolina where we spent the last 13 years in the Marine Corps. As far as this branch of Stop and Shop goes, besides being fairly expensive, has some of the rudest employees I have ever encountered, typically forcing you to bag your own items after you get done checking out, even when you are accompanied by multiple children and spending over $300 in groceries.
I haven't look to complain until today when the self checkout attendant was too busy looking at her nails and talking to a young boy to notice that my station required assistance. When I asked her if she was working that area, she rudely replied, "Yes", and without saying another word, and aggressively pushing my cart out of the way, corrected the station and went right back to "not doing her job".
I consider myself to have thick skin and patience for arrogance and ignorance but after spending $1700 at this branch in one month alone, this place has got to be recognized as being one of the worst grocery stores I have ever shopped at.
They also employ handicapped people, which is great, but they put them, unattended at positions that require speed and accuracy, as well as customer service, so it backs up the lines substantially and when they become rude to customers (not their fault), there is nobody to correct the situation.
Management needs to clean house at this branch and start to recognize their...
Read moreSo tonight I was extremely disappointed in the service at this Stop & Shop location. I was there till after close BUT I got in line before close at 9:50pm. There was NO open lanes so I was forced to ring out myself. I had a huge cartload. I felt bad we were keeping the guy helping us but he was watching me like a hawk as I rang everything out (as if ima steal something) so that was awkward.... Either way, I still felt the need to apologize to him for keeping him past close. (Even tho we didnt keep him that late, we were done at 10:10pm) Than he says to me "be careful next time in the future" EXCUSE ME?!?! What do I need to be careful of? Is that a threat? I felt very uncomfortable after that. Than they wouldn't let us out the door that was the side we parked on cuz they already locked it. So I'm supposed to walk all the way around with a full cart that I can barley push AND my boyfriend carrying a 20lb box of cat litter?!?!? So to say the least I'm not happy. I'm actually quite offended and uncomfortable being treated this way. I used to work at this stop and shop and I don't remember the workers here being so rude. I hope nobody has to experience what I went...
